Orange is Not Blonde

(Cheektowaga NY)
So, I went to this salon Stangalos in Cheektowaga, NY once over a year ago. I also have dark brown hair. I had nice BLONDE highlights before so I know it can be done!!! I went in and by the time I was done, my highlights were a brassy orange color! I paid, left, and then when I got home I couldn't stand it so I called the place and they fixed it. I eventually went back dark brown and my hair was long and shiny.
I was bored and decided to do something different. I wanted blonde and red highlights. I went there again. (different girl of course) She bleached and did the red. Okay, fine so far. She said my hair came out blonde in multi-shades. She put a toner in, washed and then time to dry and style. Once my hair was dried and straightened, I was NOT happy. The red looked faded and my BLONDE highlights were a dark orange color. I'm like what did you 'tone' my hair with, tang? I told her I thought it was orangey could we redo it lighter. She said she didn't want to lift anymore cause it will cause too much damage. I would have rather had a couple split ends than this!
So I said okay, paid, and left. When i got home I cried for hours and I couldn't go back they were closed. I am for a second time disappointed! I thought maybe a different girl would get it right..GUESS NOT.
I know they will offer to fix but no way! I don't want anyone from that salon to touch my damn hair. I plan to go there first thing tomorrow and demand my money back.

Gosh Amber. I am so sorry this happened to you twice. You must have a lot of red already in your hair for bleach to pull orange. To me, that is totally strange.
There are 12 stages of decolorization. Like this:

When you bleach dark hair blonde, you must watch it closely and allow enough time to lift your hair to pale yellow. I don't know if she didn't give your hair long enough to lift all the way, or if the toner she used gave it an orange color. I wonder if you happened to see what color your hair was before she added toner?
I sure hope you got this all resolved now? From now on, be sure the stylist you get is well versed in color applications. Stylists have moved away from taking their time with clients to be sure what they give you, is what you really want. Consultation used to be a big part of a stylist's appointment. Not so much anymore!
The best thing you can do is ask questions! Look at what they're doing to your hair. Women are too trusting and nowadays must take affirmative action in their hair care. There are still some good stylists out there, but you have to really pick and choose who them carefully!
