Will dawn dish soap help remove hair color?

by Mandie

I have dyed my hair many different times. It has been bleached at one time and has gradually gotten darker. My most latest color is Jet Black and now I am regretting it and want my natural blonde back. I've heard that one of the best ways to fade the black out was adding Original Dawn Dish liquid to shampoo or adding lemon juice to conditioner. Are these ways actually as safe for the hair as I have read?

Dawn detergent and shampoos that are known to be harsh on your hair will only work if you use them immediately. Do several shampoos and leave them in your hair for a few minutes before rinsing out. Lemon could help but with dark color, apple cider vinegar might work better because its slightly more acidic.

However, no matter what you do, you will still have to use a chemical to remove the rest of the color from your hair.

Once the color is safely removed from your hair, you are free to color it blonde or use a toner on your hair.
