Weight Reduction - Healthy Eating Habits for Better Living
Weight reduction won't happen until you learn how to curb your appetite for consumption. One great way to kick start weight loss is to give up those high calorie foods and drinks during the week. Include them in your diet only on the weekends, in moderation of course:o)
The fact is, that most people feel entitled to 'something extra' most all the time. You might have earned a special treat by doing a great job at work, helped out a friend who treats you to a meal out, or you might be feeling blue and want something 'extra' to perk you up.
These 'extras' include anything that is high in fat or calories such as: desserts, alcoholic beverages, breads, extra helpings, fatty meats, greasy chips, chocolate ice cream, brownies, etc. The list is non ending. It just depends on what your weaknesses might be! Just remember that 'nothing in excess is good for you'! Moderation is truly key to any weight loss plan.
Weight Reduction 101
My son knows that he can have a bowl of ice cream only on Friday and Saturday night. It really gives him something to look forward to during the week, and he 'gets that'!
He didn't like it when I drew a line in the sand and insisted on it but he was getting a bit puggy and that's not good. Now, he understands that having dessert is a real treat and he enjoys it and appreciates it even more.
Your passion might be beer or a good red wine, so that being said, have a few drinks on the weekends only. Most people, (in this economy), can’t afford or wouldn't want to drink alcohol all week anyway. It's just way to unhealthy and way too fattening!
You might have a different passion, like chocolate cake or potatoes with sour cream and butter. Just change the 'splurge'. It's good to have goals and to strive toward them. Once you've gotten through a week of eating healthy foods without the splurge, remember to reward yourself. Go ahead and have something extra on the weekends, in moderation of course. Splurges should be the exception, not the rule! To keep weight off of you, moderate your splurges.
Weight reduction is dependent on two things. Eating healthy foods most of the time and eating fatty foods occasionally. Any healthy eating habit must start with moderating the amounts of non essential fatty foods and drinks you consume in your daily diet! Remember too, one else can make you change. To lose weight successfully, you have to do it for yourself!
If you have a few days off during the week instead of the weekends, then just eat desserts or have a few drinks on those specific nights that you are off from work the next day. If you work every day of the week, then choose a few days/nights of the week to go ahead and have that extra treat.
Another good suggestion for weight reduction is to keep a food journal and to know how many calories you consume in a day. Use this handy RDA calculator to see how many calories you should consume. That way you'll have a base line number to work with. You can't lose weight if you don't give up some of the calories you're consuming.
Any good healthy eating habit for weight reduction must start with you! The only person you can really control is you!
