How to Trim Your Hair - Medium to Long Hairstyles

Order the WEN® Healthy Hair Care System and receive FREE bonuses

If you have medium to long hair, you can trim your hair no problem. Its easy to do if you have a good set of shears! This is especially useful when you've got split ends and usually go to a hairdresser to get them cut. You'll save money plus do a great job!

Split ends can be a real problem when you style your hair a lot. They can give you frizzy hair and look pretty bad. The other bad part about split ends, is that once they happen, they will continue to split up towards your head if you don't get rid of them!

Times are hard right now, so cutting a few corners is a great way to save a few bucks. Spend the money instead on makeup or hair products that help you style your hair!

This video will explain to you how to trim your hair. You will need to have a good set of shears to do the trim. Its also a technique that works better on straight hair. For that reason, if you have curly hair, straighten it before you cut it or just cut it while it's wet.

You also need to know that when hair is wet, its longer than when it's dry. If you make the cut while it's wet, allow a little more length than you actually want. Hair usually shrinks about 1/4" - 1/2" after it's dry. The most important thing to remember is that you must use the same pressure when you hold your hair down to make the cut(s).

Take baby steps if you are unsure about the length. Better to cut too little than too much! If you are too nervous, don't do it or get your mom, neighbor, or a girlfriend to help!

Remember too, no one trim is perfect! Who cares! Stop sweating the small stuff and just relax and enjoy it. 1/8" or 1/4" off isn't going to show up. If anyone notices, tell them either you meant to do it that way OR tell them to get a life!
