Using Traditional Chinese Medicine to Lose Weight

You may be wondering how Traditional Chinese Medicine can help you lose weight? It's because TCM is all about balance.

Most people can't lose weight because something in their life is 'off' or unbalanced.

Included in this website, there are sensible tips for better health that the Chinese people have incorporated in their health beliefs for thousands of years. Knowing the fundamentals of the belief can truly give you an 'ah ha' moment!


[The study of Traditional Chinese Medicine, (or TCM for short), is quite involved and since this website is not about TCM, only the parts of TCM that pertain to weight loss and health care are mentioned.]

TCM and Weight Loss

It's always good to start at the beginning though and learn a little history, so you are aware of the basic principles of the belief. Once you understand the basic fundamentals, you will should understand the general concept! You will begin to understand how TCM has helped many people lose weight and how it can help you lose weight too!

Chinese Medicine is a system of diagnosis and health care which has evolved over the last 4000 years. It is a unique approach to understanding the human body.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on the belief that all humanity is part of the natural environment and that health or balance can only be achieved when one follows the natural law by adapting to the changes of the surrounding environment and the seasons.

It is also a belief that all humans are born into this world endowed with Three Precious Treasures of life, by virtue of which we are able to exist, think, and function.

These three treasures compose our inherent natural legacy and the degree to which we protect and preserve them determines the state of our health and our life spans.

Those who squander and abuse the precious treasures will suffer the poverty of chronic disease and premature death. Those who cultivate and conserve them will enjoy the riches of health and longevity.

Understanding the fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine, then how will it help you lose weight?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Three Treasures upon which life depends are Essence, Energy, and Spirit.

This was best explained by Wen-tzu in the first century, BC.

"The body (Essence) is the temple of life.

Energy is the force of life.

Spirit is the governor of life".

If one of them goes off balance, all three are damaged.

However, when the spirit takes command, the body naturally follows it and this arrangement benefits all Three Treasures. When the body leads the way, the spirit goes along and this harms all Three Treasures.

If you have a fundamental belief in a Higher Power, then you can understand why when the Spirit leads the way, the rest is all good! Food is meant to be medicinal and to feed your spirit! Not the other way around. Prayer is a wonderful way to lose weight that you can utilize immediately. No cost here either!

The food you consume is meant to nourish your body and give you energy for your spirit. View the food you consume as nourishment not only for your body and energy but also for your spirit. That belief should help you curve those unexpected urges to splurge and eat unwholesome foods or ‘junk foods’.

Junk foods and fatty foods have little or no nutritional value at all.

Will you feel good if you feed your spirit junk food? How will you ever lose weight eating junk food? The answer is, you won’t.

Take a good hard look at the food you consume. Is most of the food you eat healthful? Are you nourishing your body or eating food just to be eating it? Do you treat your body as your temple?

If you don’t, then you are not alone! Most folks don’t. But if you are overweight and still eating junk food, your temple and spirit are suffering!

Curb your ‘appetite to destruction’ and learn to follow the spirit. To lead the way your spirit needs your essence and your energy!

Use mind over matter. Use prayer! (God please help me to NOT EAT this BIG MAC!) That’s where it all begins you know.

If you know something is bad for you, then stay away from it as much as possible. You wouldn’t touch a red hot stove would you? Burns are bad. We all know that! But so is junk food! Remember too that nothing in excess is good for you. So eat junk foods less often, and nutritional delicious foods more often!

Stay away from the temptations that make you relapse. Find your personal power from your spirit!

People who pray more, lose more weight!

We've all heard it over and over again. Prayer can help you lose weight! Have a strong faith and develop a relationship with your Higher Power and watch the weight fall off!

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been around for a very long time. Rarely do we see Obese people in China! There is a place for Eastern Culture in our Western World. Utilize it! Embrace it! Prayer is a great way to lose weight! Don't underestimate it's powerful potential to help you too!
