Thin Oily Hair Help Please!

Q) I have thin oily hair. How can I make my hair get thick?

It seems lifeless as its oily on top but brittle on the ends. Please give me a good suggestion to make it healthier/strong & fast growing hair.

Professional Hair Care Tips - Thin oily hair is a problem, especially since you say it's brittle on the ends. You need serious help! Your own hair growth depends on you. Heredity and vitamins all make a big difference. Hair grows around 1/2 of an inch a month, depending on the person.

Vitamins that stimulate hair growth are vitamins B, A, and E. (Vitamin A is synonymous with Beta Carotene and B Vitamins are known as the 'beauty vitamins'.) You can also use hair vitamins, as these are specific blends of the right vitamins and minerals you need for hair growth and strength. Biotin, is also well known for helping hair growth. Super Biotin is great for hair, skin, and nail growth and will help even more!

You might also think about getting some light layers in your hair. Layers add volume so layers on thin hair can be very advantageous.

Your problems with excessive oils could be linked to heredity, lack of the proper vitamins, overactive sebaceous glands, and/or hormones. Since there are so many variables, its hard to know what will work best for you. If your oily hair is linked to hormones, you may just have to wait it out.

Dry shampoos a good product for oily hair in a pinch. Use them between shampooing to help remove excessive oils from your hair.

In the meantime, I would suggest using a clarifying shampoo like Jojoba oil shampoo or Tea Tree oil shampoo, then use a volumizing/thickening/texturizing shampoo on a regular basis instead of a conditioning shampoo. Occasional use of clarifying shampoos cut the oils and keep your hair looking much healthier. To help thicken your hair, simply use a volumizing shampoo.

I would also suggest that you trim your hair about an inch. Get rid of the brittle ends and start using a good deep conditioner regularly. Use them with a heat cap for the absolute best results. Apply the conditioner to your hair ends especially, after you've gotten a trim.

You can easily trim your own hair if you don't have the money to pay for a stylist to do this for you. Deep conditioners will really help protect your hair ends from becoming dry and brittle again!

You might also try hask placenta products. They've been touted as a modern day miracle for hair repair.
