The Horrible Stylist

by Jane
(Greensboro, NC, USA)

I cannot believe I sat there and let someone screw with my hair that way and then paid for it! What was I thinking? I thought the "stylist" and I were on the same page. I trusted her. I don't think she heard a word I said. She was so busy running her mouth and trying to be the funniest person in the salon that my haircut became secondary to anything else that was happening at the time.

The result was the absolute worst haircut of my life and I am pretty old! Now I am stuck with a haircut that I cannot do anything with. She cut it so badly that it is even thinner than it was before, making it virtually impossible for me to work with it.

I spent 4 hours on it the day it was cut,and since then, I've spent countless hours in front of the mirror trying to decide what I could do with it. My hair grows very, very slowly so I am serious when I say, it will be months before I can even see growth (it's October now). I am seriously depressed about his. I suffer from depression and this has made it even worse. I'm sure I will not leave the house unless it is an absolute necessity. I am just sick over this.

Do stylist have any idea how critical it is that they "get it right" for women who sit in their chairs and put their trust in them and if that trust is violated, how devastating it is for the person whose hair is ruined? I believe their license should be revoked!

Gosh Jane. I am so sorry that your stylist put you in such a bad predicament. When I worked at a salon, most of the stylists would talk on the phone while they were serving clients. Its a practice that started years ago unfortunately, and has carried over. I was the only stylist who refused to talk to other people or on the phone while I was attending to my clients hair.

Consultations used to be the protocol for every client. Now, they are history. I believe that it's every stylist's responsibility to listen to their clients requests!
