Teenage Hair Loss

I am 16. I used to have very thick and curly hair similar to (the singer) Shakira's natural hair. However, when I became 13, I used very rubbish straighteners, they didn't work very well and were quite old. I burnt a lot of my hair as I was unaware of how to use the straighteners and would spend many hours straightening, as I was desperate to get straight hair.
Now my hair is very thin and year by year it is thinning more and more. I have a couple of small bald patches. I hardly have any hair. I assume this is due to straightening my hair the way I did. I don't know?
My hair now looks completely opposite to how it used to look before. My hair was so volumized and very, very thick before. How can I get my hair back to normal again? I want my thick, curly hair back! Please help me!

I think your condition might be alopecia aereta. It has many causes (stress being one of them) but it can also be caused by an autoimmune dysfunction in your body. Somehow, your body sees your hair follicles as an invader, which disrupts
hair growth. You can get a lot of great information about it here:
Alopecia AreataI seriously doubt that your using the older straightener treatments caused this. It may have initially but its been too long ago now for it to make this much of a difference in your
hair growth.
In time, your alopecia areata should straighten itself out. In the meantime, I suggest you start on a daily dose of
Super Biotin.
Biotin is a
B vitamin that aids growth of
hair,
skin, and
nails.
Do remember that increased stress causes more
hair loss, so be sure to keep stress levels down if possible. Deep breathing methods and meditation are great natural ways to deal with stress.
