Taking Care of Hair Overseas

by Jennifer
(Devon)

I need to wash my hair every day as it is, and in humid weather it gets greasy and frizzy very fast. I'm going to a hot, humid country (China) in a couple of weeks and I know it'll be even worse than normal. I want to do what some of my friends do and only wash my hair a couple of times a week, but after 24 hours it just needs to be washed again! I use Pantene Volumizing Shampoo and The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Conditioner. Especially whilst I'm on holiday, how do I keep my hair looking ok for longer?

***************

I used L'Oreal Pantene products many years ago for a short time. However, it didn't do well for my hair and it sounds like its not a very good choice for your hair. Volumizing products increase hair volume, which is the opposite of what you want, isn't it?

You would do so much better to use smoothing products (shampoos and conditioners) in your hair. Hair frizzes when the cuticles in the hair are not laying down properly. Thick hair also frizzes cause it has no where else to go but out! If you have extremely thick hair, you might want to get your hair thinned by a professional.

Shampooing your hair too often can make your hair oily very fast. When you strip the natural oils from your hair too frequently, that signals your sebaceous glands to make more oils. There is a balance that must be achieved to have healthy looking hair.

I am not sure about the Body Shop's products but there are so many great products on the market today! Look for products that do not contain sulfites and sulfates however. (natural organic products) Over time, they can really dry your hair out, which makes your hair look frizzy. Look for smoothing creams that help control frizziness.

You might also try products like Biosilk Silk Therapy or L'Oreal Eversleek.
