Straightening Wavy Hair

My hair is very fine and wavy and I color it every month. Is it advisable to straighten it?

I blow dry my hair and use a straightening iron which doesn't make it completely flat. My hair still has some body which is fine.

I don't think dead straight suits me, but since I live in a humid place its a real pain trying to keep it looking good as it goes into frizz very fast. I thought straightening my hair would solve the problem but I am not sure if it would really suit me and may make me look like I have very little hair. Any advice would be appreciated.

***************

Your hair dilemma sounds a lot like mine. I too, have very wavy hair and I live in the deep south, where the humidity is very high. When I straighten my hair, some parts of my hair (especially at the roots) revert during the day, which also gives my hair some body.

The problem with chemically straightened hair is that it will take all the wave out of your hair. Its costly, can cause hair loss in some cases, and you will have to get new growth straightened from time to time. Its a total commitment!

You will have to decide what's best for you though! Yes, using a flat iron is a royal pain but it sure beats the heck out of having damaged hair. Healthy hair is much more important (IMHO) than having straight hair.

To deal with frizziness, apply straightening products, smoothing creams, or oils to your hair while it's still wet, then comb through to distribute the products.

Humidity can ruin any good hairstyle but chemicals can ruin it for a long time!
