Spring Makeup Trends 2010
| | Spring makeup trends can change from year to year. Some years overlap and carry into the next year and some years it changes completely. |
Most of the time however, the makeup you wear in the spring should be colorful, yet subtle... just like emerging flowers!

After all, spring is the season of lots of flowers in bloom and a time of change. Winter’s dull tones are left far behind when spring is in the air! Spring Makeup Trends 2010 | Foundation Spring Makeup Trends The spring season reminds us that it’s a great time to ‘renew’ and ‘refresh’! Your skin goes through changes much as the seasons do, so its time to get your skin back looking fresh and naturally beautiful! Using a facial toner after removing your makeup at night, can help slough off dead skin cells and rejunenate your skin. This becomes especially important if you let your skin care regimen lax over the winter months! In the spring, think breathe! One of the best choices in foundation spring makeup trends, continues to be mineral foundations . These precious gems allow your skin to whisper soft tunes of fresh, while providing a natural sunblock! Minerals also won’t clog pores or cause pimples and layering them is an option. The amount of coverage you want is completely up to you! Choose foundation colors that closely match your skin tone and only apply them to areas that need coverage. |
You can also opt for translucent loose powders on those occasions when just a dab will do! Less is better in the spring, when your skin is transitioning to warmer temperatures. Another option on the scene last year, is Almay Smart Shade makeup . It comes in a variety of shades and works with your body's chemistry to match your skin tone. It also gives good coverage to blemishes and fine lines and wrinkles and provides an SPF of 15. Eyeshadow Spring Makeup Trends Purple shadows continue to dominate the scene but also in spring makeup trends, are bright shades of green eyeshadows , blue eyeshadows , hot pink eyeshadows , and ‘hard to believe’ yellow eyeshadow ! Not everyone can wear all of these colors successfully, so stick to the colors that look best with your facial skin tones. If you really like a color but it doesn't fit into your color scheme, try different shades of the same color! For example, lets say you love green shadows, but trendy bright green shadows wash out your skin tone. Instead, choose a softer shade of mint green or honeydew green. | If you know your own color season, you’ll have an easier time deciding which color shades are right for you. Most yellow colors should be left to those whose color seasons are fall and spring, although winter’s can get away with darker shades and summer’s can get away with softer shades. Every woman should know her color season, so be sure to find out your own! | |
Also in this year are softer eyebrows that almost look non-existent. If you want to be hip with the spring makeup trends, brush over dark eyebrows with a dusting of translucent loose powder . Eyeliner Spring Makeup Trends Since colors are the rule for shadows, they are also the trend for liners. You can perk up your makeup by adding another shot of color with eyeliners. Opt for glitter eyeliner colors or by adding an off color as your liner choice. Also in vogue, are different shades of liquid liners . Use these only above the upper lash line. They just get too messy to use under your lower lashes! Lipstick Spring Makeup Trends Red lips don’t sink ships and are definitely the fashion trend for this year, all year long! If you wear red lipstick , keep your eye makeup on the light side of the spring fling. Soft coral lip colors are also kosher, so be sure to include a shimmery shade in your lipstick collection. Mascara Spring Makeup Trends Long lashes are a huge trend in makeup this year. The longer, the better! On the West Coast, there’s a push for a more permanent fix using false lashes that are applied individually. These supposedly last a couple weeks but not every woman is on the cruise ship with these! Instead, opt to layer mascara in different shades of color. Black mascara can be blasé in the spring with all this color around! Several coats of colored mascara can accentuate your eyes and lashes. Allow each coat to dry in between applications though. Lush lashes are achieved when you find mascara’s that won’t clump on you. If you do get clumps, use a slightly moist q-tip to help remove them. Of course, if you’re not afraid of regular false lashes , use them! You can find a vast assortment of different types and styles on the market. Don’t be afraid to think outside the lashes box this year! Blush Spring Makeup Trends
Cheek blush should be applied to the apples of your cheeks for a flushed look, just like you’ve gotten caught with your hand in the wrong cookie jar! Oh my! Bronzing is also in, but you don’t want it to look like a fake tan. Subtle sweeps of a golden bronzer or a peach blusher creates a soft facial glow that doesn’t overwhelm! If you don’t want to blush it up, you can use a tinted moisturizer or a gradual facial tanning lotion . Tan skin is always trendy but remember that sunless tanning lotions can give you a tan without risking exposure to harmful UVA’s and UVB’s. Golden brown skin looks fantastic with pink lipsticks , pink eyeshadows , and pink shimmer ! Coral also charms your skin in shades that suit your skin tone best. Spring Trends for Skin Skin toners and milky facial cleansers can be kept inside your fridge to refresh and chill your skin. Yogurt can be used as a mask to restore your skin’s pH balance and soothe external irritations. Add 1/4 tablespoon of honey to one tablespoon of plain yogurt to hydrate your skin from time to time. Facial masks are typically left on for 15-20 minutes and rinsed off with cool water. Gently pat your skin dry with a soft facial cloth. Use a good facial moisturizer as soon as possible to preserve hydration! Spring Trends for Hair Straight hairstyles are still not hot! Long wavy hair continues to dominate and be faddish. Stick straight ironed hair has been out now for a couple seasons so if you didn't know, you should take notice now! If you just love your straight style, you can always opt to wear your hair straight but add a few loose waves. Use hot rollers to add a few not-so-tight curls or use a big barrel curling iron . Long hair is also the trend, so if you got long luscious locks, you're in luck! If you find that your hair lacks luster, be sure to use a good deep hair conditioning treatment or conditioning mask . Messy buns are also in this year! These are especially easy to do if you’ve got wavy or curly hair! Air dried hair continues to be fashionable too. Use ionic blow dryers for less frizz and more sheen. Blow dry your hair with the air flow pointing down from above your head. Give your hair a cool shot before you finish for extra shiny hair. Use root lifter’s for adding extra volume. Flat hair is out and full, voluminous hair is in. You can also create extra volume by lifting up your hair with your fingertips or lightly spraying your roots with a firm holding hairspray . For best results, hold your head upside down and separate your hair in sections while you’re spraying them. Allow hairsprays to dry thoroughly before styling! Shimmer makeup is also swanky this year. Shimmering eyeshadows and liners can glow-off your face too! Shimmer also looks great on your lips so be sure to include lip shimmer in your makeup collection. Whatever spring makeup trends you choose to follow, remember that color is hip and always mod! Colors are way cool all of the time because they can show expression without you ever having to make a facial move!
