Spring Hair Care Regimen – Tips to Refresh and Revitalize
Your spring hair care regimen should evolve with the emergence of warmer temps and higher humidity. Just as you get a spring into your step, your hair also needs a little zip to bounce back from the cold arctic air. Spring reminds us to revitalize and refresh!
Spring is a time of year when new life emerges all around you. Just as this season dictates, spring is the right time to breathe new life back into your hair. This is especially true if you got a bit lazy taking care of your hair over the cold winter months. No worries though.
Taking a break from time to time is perfectly understandable but you should also get ready to take on the challenges of the warmer days ahead. Use these spring hair care tips to boost the way your hair looks and feels!

If you haven't deep conditioned your hair in a while, your hair is bound to be very thirsty and may look and feel dry. Adding oils to your spring hair care regimen is a great way to restore lost luster and makes your hair stronger.

Restorative Hair Mask for Spring
1 ripe banana
1 egg, whisked
1/4 Cup of whole milk or honey
Drizzle of oil (about 1 Tablespoon)
Mash banana well. Whisk egg and blend well into the mashed banana. Mix in the milk and oil and stir well with a fork to a creamy consistency. (Alternately, you can use your blender if you have one:o)
This mixture will be VERY messy (but it's so worth it) so it’s best to apply it in the shower or over the sink or even outside! Massage well into dry or slightly damp hair. Make sure to target hair ends, which take the brunt of abuse. Cover with a cap and leave on for at least 30 minutes. Rinse well, then follow with a light shampoo and conditioner if you need it.
If you’ve been using heavy conditioners or lots of styling products during the winter months, spring hair care should include clearing those products off your hair. It's the #1 most important thing you can do to revitalize your hair. Once your hair is thoroughly cleansed, it will bounce back and look great!

After a long winter, your scalp also needs a little clarifying refreshment! One of the easiest ways to get rid of dry flakes is to use mayonnaise, straight out of the jar. Mayonnaise contains eggs, oil, and either lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. These natural ingredients are simply perfect for your spring hair care!
To use: How much mayo you use depends on your hair length, so you’ll be the best judge of how much you use. Generally, about 1/2 cup is plenty for most people with medium length hair.
Apply mayonnaise generously to your scalp and follow with a 10 minute scalp massage. Cover with a cap and leave on your scalp for 20 minutes or longer. Rinse thoroughly.

Color Rinse for Brown Hair
Add two tea bags of black tea (earl grey or orange pekoe tea) to four cups of hot water. Let steep for at least 1/2 hour. After shampooing and conditioning, pour 1/2 cup of the tea rinse through your hair. Do not rinse again. Set aside leftover tea to use next time you shampoo. Store leftover tea in the frig.

Color Rinse for Red Hair
Add two bags of hibiscus tea to four or five cups of hot water. Let steep for 30 minutes or longer until the tea is a rich red color. Add more tea bags as needed. Pour 1/2 cup of the tea mix through your hair after shampooing and conditioning.
Hibiscus tea helps refresh red tints in your hair naturally!
Color Rinse for Blonde or Gray Hair
Steep 2 bags of lemon tea in at least four cups of boiled water for 30 minutes. After shampooing and conditioning, apply 1/2 cup of the tea rinse to your hair and work through. .
Just as lemons help brighten blonde or gray hair shades, lemon tea can also do the trick!
Adding bangs to your present hairstyle is a great way to change up your hairstyle without sacrificing much length. There are so many different types of bangs so choose carefully.
Shorter blunt bangs can make you look more youthful, while longer angled bangs add sophistication. It all depends on what you’re trying to achieve!
