Split Ends Problem

by Savvy
(Canada)

Since I've started growing my hair, split ends have become a major problem for my hair now. I get the ends trimmed every 3-4 weeks but the split ends usually appear in the middle of the hair so if I cut them off, the length would get shorter again. Help me with a better solution to avoid split ends.

This can be a huge dilemma for sure! The worst problem with split ends, is that they will keep splitting higher and higher up your hair shaft unless they are eliminated now.

Trimming your ends will not help the split ends that are on your mid hair shaft. That's simply not going to solve your split ends problem. There are split end menders on the market that (supposedly) help repair them. It sure won't hurt to try one! Joico K-PAK Split End Mender is one brand but according to reviews, Henna N Placenta works well on split ends too.

Deep conditioning your hair will also help smooth your hair cuticles. You might try doing a treatment every couple of weeks to see if that helps.

Also, remember to be gentle with your hair. Keep hot irons out of it as much as possible. Always comb wet hair and brush dry hair, but don't over-brush it. Twice a day is sufficient!

If none of these things help, you might opt for a layered haircut. That would help eliminate some of your split ends and at least you wouldn't have to give up all your hair length!

A couple of cuts to try are:
