Spiritualism - Why Ignoring It Won't Make It Go Away

I read years ago that spiritualism may be genetic. Could we really be inherently predisposed to be spiritualistic in nature?

That is, our our belief in a higher power is inborn. Many a scholar believe this is true. Thats one reason why ignoring it won't make it go away. If we stray from our religious beliefs, it is always there waiting to be reborn in us!

Most of us are born into families that either embrace those beliefs or not.

I come from a long line of Christians and believe that those beliefs were passed onto me even before I was born. Being that spiritual, I also have an innate belief that all people are basically good.

My dad always thought it was my downfall....that I was too trusting of other people. Believe me, there have been a lot of people over the years that have taken advantage of my good nature. That school of hard knocks was never too far away. But I chose to forgive those people.

Why have I always forgiven others instead of condemning them? I think it came to me naturally. That inborn desire to ‘treat others the way I would have them treat me’.

We are not born into this world to do ‘evil’ and be 'miserable'. We are born into this world to be ‘happy and thrive’.

Circumstances and environment definitely influence the outcome of our natural ability to ‘do good deeds’.

If you've been to the school of hard knocks, you can easily see how the universe is constantly working against us. If we are spiritual in nature, those beliefs can help us get through the tough times that we have to endure in this life.

We all have choices to make in life. The good and the bad. Those choices will either hinder you or help you. Its really quite simple.

Unfortunately I think that environment plays a large part of our 'inner being'. If we have lousy parents without a solid foundation, then we may spiral out of our conscience being and into whatever those circumstances create around us. Even when we have good parents, the same principles can apply by outside affluences.

The universe is good! We can either embrace it and covet it or deceptionalize it and pervert it.

I choose to embrace it:o) What will you choose?

Isn't it innately natural to believe in a higher power? After all, we are pure conscious beings. We are conscious of the world around us and of ourselves. We are perfect just the way we are!

It is impossible to create consciousness in a mechanical way. There is always a difference between a living being and a computer, no matter how sophisticated its performance might be. There is no way to "build" consciousness, despite all the bold claims of unintelligent scientists.

Consciousness is the cause of everything happening in the material world, not an effect or epiphenomena, as it is sometimes described.

A computer might say: 'I see a nice flower'. I may say the same, using the same words, but there is a huge difference between the two statements. My interpretation of the flower is much different than the computer's interpretation. The difference could not be more HUGE.

The computer 'making' that statement is not even aware of making it, indifferent of any accompanying emotions, feelings etc.

So, we are spiritual and that infers consciousness. We are pure and of free consciousness. That is our real and eternal identity. We are conscious of ourselves, of our thoughts, desires, emotions and our physical bodies, that we accept now.

Because we are pure consciousness, unbound by material circumstances, we always strive for that perfection. In this way it is genetic.

The problem is that we are usually striving for that perfection in the wrong places, outside of us, in the material realm.

We already are perfect, right here, right now. No need to struggle for perfection. We just have to learn to accept it.

As a clear minded spiritual being it is not hard to acknowledge that we are not the Supreme Power. Therefore there is this tendency to take shelter.

Real shelter can be found in the Supreme Power. In reality as it is, without our maps or interpretation of it, because ultimately reality is a huge, limitless ocean of unconditional love.

If you want to get out of the school of hard knocks, your own spirituality can serve you well. Shelter yourself from the outside world and create peace from within.

Is spiritualism genetic? Could we really be predisposed to be spiritual? It is open for your interpretation.
