Semi Permanent Color Won't Wash Out
by Kathryn
Hi I have had highlights and a semi permanent colour not more than twice a year for about 2 years now. The last semi did not wash/fade out as it should. I do not know name of product as it was salon but I did have it done in a noted salon and it paid for the professionalism!!!
Can you advise why this may have happened? I am not looking for come back from my salon but I now have "roots" and I'm afraid to get another semi.

It is likely that the salon used a demi permanent color instead of a semi permanent color. (There's a difference in the size of the molecules in the colors.) Any color can become a permanent color too, if the hair that's being colored is not moisturized enough. In this situation, the color absorbs deeper into the cortex of the hair and that's why it won't wash out. With extreme outdoors temperatures, it can be nearly impossible to provide sufficient moisture to your hair, no matter how much you condition.
There are hair glazes, like
Redkin Shades EQ, that also act like a demi permanent color too. It is possible that the salon used a glaze, instead of a semi permanent color also.
It might be good to call the salon (not to complain exactly) but to tell them what happened. If they are professional about things, they may ask you if you need help fixing your hair so you're happy. There's never any harm in asking anyway. The worst they can do is say they won't help you, you know?
