The Secrets of Longevity

The secrets of longevity are not found in the fountain of youth. They are instead, found in the daily choices you make in your life. Your lifestyle is key to living a longer healthier life.

There will be a big difference in the way you look and feel as you age if you can simplify your life more. The simpler your life is, the less stress you'll have and the more rewarding your life can be.

The world is a complicated place. Conveniences of the modern world are supposed to help make your life less complicated. Yet, most people live highly stressful lives because of the advances in technology. With more advances, the more complicated and stressful life becomes.

Stress and anxiety are two key contributors to disease and illness. Your life was meant to be rich and full in relationships and spirituality. No man (or woman) is an island.

People who lived in earlier days relied on each other for help. People were closely intertwined in large families and stayed that way for most of their lives.

Today relationships, friends, work, and family, are all separated. They isolate us and so we fill our homes with 'more things' that are advertised to make us feel better. We buy them, get home with them, and are excited for a short time. Then we get the bill and those good feelings are replaced by a nagging sensation that we didn't think things through enough. Somehow 'those things' only leave us feeling empty inside.

Deepak Chopra recently said something that caught my attention. He said to:

"Stop buying things you don’t need, spending money you haven’t yet earned, to impress people you don’t like".

If you want to live longer, stop focusing on the 'things' in your life. They will not make you happy! (As you grow older, this becomes more self-evident!)

Instead, focus on yourself, your lifestyle, and the people that surround you. The secrets of longevity means living a simple life, which will in turn make you healthier and happier. Living your life filled with high amounts of stress and isolation only complicates your life and makes you feel empty inside.
