Save Spare Change over Time!

Keep a large box or vase just for excess change.

Make it a chore to get the money out of it. Get creative. Just create a slot to drop the money through. As it gets heavier its no fun to tip it over just to get a dime... ;-)

Every time you go to the store and someone gives you change, drop in the box when you get home.

Clean out your totes, purses and pockets of excess change. Drop change in the container.

If you make a commitment to never spend your change, the amount grows rapidly.

Decide on a set time to open the container depending on your goal(s). Long term goals work better.

Take the change to the bank or to a change making machine and convert it.

I find if you can do this at minimum once a year, you'll have enough for gifts.

If you can wait a couple of years, you could have thousands. I got this idea from the Oprah show and one guy was able to save enough money to pay off his mortgage.(go figure...)

Try it. It's fun.

Thanks Sandy. Its a great idea! Thanks for sharing too!

I do the same thing but don't add to it as often as I should.... but I also keep a load of change in my car and then when it gets full, I transfer it to the jar in the house. I would suppose I've got a hundred bucks or so saved up so far. (not much but every little bit helps!)
