Save Money - support American farmers

America is a great country for producing food. Do you really want to buy imported food from a country that does not have such high standards of hygiene and welfare as your own? Also, do you really need to eat food that is not in season and transported from abroad at high cost both in terms of food miles and expense.
Life is hard enough for farmers, do not make it any more difficult for them.
However, there are two sides to this particular coin. Farmers must ask themselves should they be producing grains to be turned into fuel. It is essential for people to eat, but there are surprisingly, other forms of transport apart from cars.
Do you really need to buy all your food pre-packaged? Why not try cooking something straight from the raw state for a change. If you have a Crock-pot you are halfway there. Just toss the ingredients into the pot, switch on, go off to work and when you return your meal will be ready for you. Alternatively, switch on and cook overnight. In the morning divide the contents of the Crock-pot into portions and freeze for a later date. Easy when you know how and sooooo much cheaper and better for you.
