Remove Age Spots Naturally

There are many natural ways to remove age spots. Which methods you choose depends on how many you have, how dark they are, and your natural skin tone. If you have a lighter skin tone, fading age spots won’t be as noticeable. If you have a darker skin tone, fading them can lead to more skin discolorations or spotty colored skin. Fading an entire area, (for example your face) might be the least noticeable way to remove them.

If you don't already have them, the best way to avoid getting age spots is to stay out of the sun. Use sunscreens, wear hats and protective clothing, and stay indoors during the middle part of the day when the sun is highest and strongest. If you already have them, it's never too late. Protect yourself from the damaging rays of the sun and you can help prevent further damage!

To keep skin youthful, stay out of the sun as much as possible, use sunless tanning lotions for a natural looking tan, and wear sunscreens regularly when you do go out into the sun.

There are many fade creams on the market that will really help fade age spots. However, there are many other ways you can fade, reduce, and remove age spots too. In a down-turned economy, its helpful to know some unconventional ways to handle them.

Your Diet to Remove Age Spots

  • Your diet has a direct effect on your the way your skin looks. If you aren't eating healthy foods, how can you expect your complexion to reflect anything good? Include fresh fruits and vegetables as often as possible. Drink lots and lots of fresh pure water to help flush impurities and toxins out of your skin. You'll have a much healthier looking complexion!

  • Avoid sweets, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco and junk foods. All of these contribute to aging and affect your skin negatively.

  • Avoid rancid oils. Refrigerate nuts, grains, and seeds after you open them. Try to avoid many fried foods as the hot cooking oils contain toxins that may damage your skin.

  • Eat Beta Carotene/Vitamin A rich foods such as carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, mango, and cauliflower. Eat more Potassium rich foods such as banana, potato, coconut-water, curd, soybeans, orange, pumpkin, sweet potato, almonds, spinach, and ground-nuts.

  • Vitamin E helps slow down the aging process and aid in tissue (skin) repair. Eat Vitamin E rich foods such as Almonds, Cashews, Peanuts, sunflower oil, sesame oil, and peanut oil. Also include Vitamin C rich foods such as kiwi, strawberries, guava, papaya, grapes, oranges, and tomatoes.

More Ways to Remove Age Spots

  • Rub fresh aloe vera or aloe vera gel on your discolorations. There is a substance in aloe that may help remove age spots. Use the gel twice a day for a month or two. Aloe gel is also great for treating burns, sunburns, freckles and scars from pimples. It also firms the skin.

  • Combine two parts of apple-cider vinegar with one part of orange juice and apply to your skin discoloration with a cotton ball.

  • Buttermilk is not just good for you internally. Buttermilk is can help remove age spots. Dab buttermilk on the area twice a day everyday. Discolorations should disappear in about a month.

  • Dab some fresh lemon juice to remove age spots. Lemon is a natural rejuvenator and is full of natural fruity acids that help fade and lighten skin and hair. Find more beauty tips using lemon.

  • Grate an onion and squeeze it through cheese cloth so that you have one teaspoonful of onion juice. Mix with two teaspoons of vinegar and rub the mixture into your spots. Do this two times a day until the spots disappear. Refrigerate leftover juice.

You can also use the juice of an onion by itself. Cut an onion and rub the juice over your age spots every day. Some say to use red onions, some say any type of onion will work. It is my opinion that yellow or more pungent onions would have the greatest effect.

  • Apply castor oil twice a day. Gently rub the oil into your skin using circular motions. Your spots should disappear within a month. If you can't find castor oil, use Vitamin E oil or fish oil instead. For best results, use cold pressed castor oil.

  • Try Bio Oil. Many women swear by this product so there must be something to it. Bio Oil also been successfully used for scar's and stretch marks!

  • Buy a can of Garbanzo beans, (use fresh if you can find them!) and mash about 1/3 cupful with a little water to form a smooth paste. Apply the mixture to age spots until it dries. (It will harden as it dries.) Remove gently with a warm wash cloth. Store the leftover paste in the refrigerator and use this everyday for best results. You can also use Chickpea flour if you can find it.

  • Eat two to three Brazil nuts daily. Brazil nuts have all of the Selenium that you need daily. Age spots are said to be caused by a deficiency in Selenium.

  • Cut a potato into slices. Place a slice of potato and/or rub the slice onto your age spot. Leave it on your face for 15 minutes and rinse with cool water. This will help reduce blemishes or other skin discolorations.

Try these natural ways to clear up and remove age spots. Which method will work best for you? Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all. Try several different suggestions to find the one that suits you and your skin type best.

Of course, if you want the convenience, you can also buy products that are time tested.
