Red Hair Color Too Dark

Okay so, I started with a fading red hair color (not natural red). I went and bought some hair color and volume 10 developer hoping to fix the fading and get an intense medium-dark red. Went home and dyed my hair to find that the color was too dark, almost a blackish-brown with some burgundy. Now I don't know what to do. I don't want to completely damage my hair, but I want to get the coloring right. What would it take to get it to the correct color and what is the best way of going about it? Any extra advice would be appreciated.

Uploaded a photo of the color I'm going for, not sure if it will help or not.

*************

If your hair is that dark, lifting it to get the right color is going to be almost impossible. Once your hair has dark purple/burgundy undertones in it, its likely to turn a pink color if you try and lift it.

The only thing you can do really, is to use a hair color remover and then apply the color you want. Be careful in choosing red colors. You could have probably gotten good results with a semi permanent color or a hair color glaze instead of using permanent colors, which are harder to remove.

Keep your red hair color longer by switching over to organic shampoos and conditioners!

Be careful using 10 volume peroxide with dark hair colors. Do a strand test next time so you won't be surprised in a bad way.
