Raw Foods Diet – A Healthy Way to Lose Weight

The raw foods diet is one of the healthiest ways to lose weight around!

Eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables can help you shed unwanted pounds and turn back the clock.

When you eat a diet that’s comprised of 50-75% raw foods, you reap many benefits. Some ailments and illnesses can completely disappear. You’ll also save a ton of money by not buying as many junk foods, that have little or no nutritional benefits.

Raw foods are packed with antioxidants your body requires to fight off free radicals and function at a cellular level. Very few people get the required amount of fruits and veggies in their daily diet anymore. Another reason its so important to get plenty of raw foods, is that they are also chunked full of active enzymes. As you grow older, your body cannot supply all your body requires, so you need to get more from outside sources to maintain the requirements.

Weight Loss Benefits of a Raw Foods Diet

Raw foods are packed with live enzymes that are essential to your health and nutrition. The rich enzymes found in a raw foods diet, helps start the process of digestion, which reduces your body's need to secret digestive enzymes. (Food enzymes are destroyed when cooking at moderate or high temperatures and are completely killed by a dry-heat temperature of 150 degrees Fahrenheit and a wet-heat temperature of 118 degrees Fahrenheit.)

If your body has to rely too much on its own digestive enzymes, the result is more stress placed on your system and organs. That leaves less time and energy for other jobs such as rebuilding and replacing damaged cells and tissue and keeping your immunity strong.

A diet that consists mainly of cooked food requires your pancreas to work overtime and depletes your body's supplies. If your pancreas has to produce enzymes, (that should come from raw foods instead), it will eventually cease to function properly. When a person eats an enzyme-poor diet consisting of lots of cooked food, the result is illness, lowered resistance to stress, weight gain, and a shortened life span. Eating lots of raw foods or taking high-quality enzyme supplements can help avoid depletion of your body's own enzymes. In order to lose weight and avoid illness, your body needs more of them.

Enzymes get used up faster during certain illnesses, during extremely hot or cold weather, and during strenuous exercise. Also, keep in mind that excess enzymes are not wasted since they add to the enzyme pool in your body. Furthermore, as you age, the amount of enzymes in your body,(and those excreted in your sweat and urine), continues to decline until you die.

In the book, The Healing Power of Enzymes, Dr. D. Fuller talks about the importance of enzymes and says:

"Eighty percent of our body’s energy is expended by the digestive process. If you are run down, under stress, living in a very hot or very cold climate, pregnant, or a frequent traveler, then enormous quantities of extra enzymes are required by your body. Because our entire system functions through enzymatic action, we must supplement our enzymes. Aging deprives us of our ability to produce necessary enzymes. The medical profession tells us that all disease is due to a lack or imbalance of enzymes. Our very lives are dependent upon them!"

A raw foods diet rich in fruit especially, can also help to flush fat from your body. Eating more raw fruits turbo charges your weight loss. Certain fruits are low energy density, which means that they contain more water, fiber, and enzymes, which helps you lose weight. Fruits have a density rating, which are between 0 and .6.

Below is a list of different fruits with their rating. Simply including more of these fruits in your raw foods diet you can help your body eliminate fat.

Strawberries .2
Raspberries .3
Watermelon .3
Grapefruit .3
Cantaloupe .4
Honeydew .4
Papaya .4
Peaches .4
Tangerines .4
Apricots .5
Pineapple .5
Oranges .6
Plums .6
Blueberries .6
Apples .6
The more fresh raw foods you eat, the more you flush toxins and fats from your body. The more you get rid of, the healthier you are and the more weight you'll be bound to lose.

Ripe fruits are rich in non-fluorescent chlorophyll catabolites, which are in and of themselves, super anti-oxidants. Vine ripened fruit helps to better eliminate free radicals that can cause many illnesses, including Cancer. Studies have shown that vine ripened fruit has twice as many metabolism revving carotenoids than fruits that are picked when they're green. The longer the fruit is on the vine the more nutrients it picks up from the soil.

Big grocery store chains have most all of their fresh produce shipped from various areas (including overseas) into their stores. To survive all the way to your local grocery store, they must be picked well before they are ripened. This also makes them much lower in enzymes and nutrients.

You will get a lot more nutrients by buying fresh vegetables and fruits from your local markets or farmers markets if you have them in your area. The veggies and fruits you buy from them are sure to be packed with many more nutrients that are beneficial to your health and your weight loss goals.

Other foods with a low energy density, besides vegetables and fruits, are nonfat milk, cooked grains, soups, stews, lean protein. These foods have fewer calories but make you feel more full faster, which helps to promote weight loss.

Raw Foods Diet Colon Cleansing

The raw food colon cleansing diet requires you to concentrate on healthy whole foods, which should include whole grains and legumes and drinking plenty of bottled water to help flush toxins from your system. Choose foods high in fiber, low in saturated fat, and low in refined sugars (including high fructose corn syrup). If sugar or high fructose corn syrup is listed within the first four ingredients, don’t eat it.

Of course, you'll also need to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Choosing raw fruits and vegetables provides your body with living enzymes to help build healthy cells in your body. Drinking freshly made fruit or vegetable juices provides essential vitamins and enzymes without taxing the liver in the digestion process. Add fish to your diet twice per week as a low fat source of protein. When selecting salad ingredients, include dark leafy greens and a salad dressing that does not include trans fat, sugar, or preservatives.

When you go on the raw foods diet, the toxins are brought up from your organs to the superficial systems of elimination, where the bowel, lymphatic system, and skin all play crucial roles. Cleansing your body naturally has weight reducing benefits. The more you consume, the more weight you should lose. Find out more about the raw food colon cleansing program.

Bananas, avocados and mangoes are good food sources of digestive enzymes and are excellent foods to choose more often in your raw foods diet. In general, raw foods that have a higher calorie content are richer in enzymes. Neither vitamins, minerals or hormones can do any work without enzymes, so be sure to include them in your raw foods diet to lose weight.
