Real Problem With Tangles and Want to Cut My Hair!
Q) I have a real problem with tangles in my hair and they're driving me nuts!
I feel like chopping off my hair! Could you please tell me a way to untangle my hair?
Professional Hair Care Tips - Don't do that! There are few problems with tangles that can’t be solved quickly and easily with a few quality hair products. When your hair tangles a lot, it can be very aggravating to say the least, but take some steps to stop them before they start. In the first place, be sure to only comb wet hair.
Hair is most susceptible to breakage when its wet so you must be careful. If you want to get the tangles out in the shower, then use a good moisturizing conditioner and get the tangles out with a wide toothed comb. Its very helpful to gently brush your hair out before you get it wet. Use a professional brush that doesn't rip your hair out. Eliminate tangles before you shower and you'll have a lot less to deal with afterward.
If you like to comb your hair out after the shower, here's what to do:
Always work on combing your hair out from the bottom up. Comb out the ends first, the middle section next, then work your way up to the top of your hair. You can separate your hair into sections and work on one section at a time, until all sections are thoroughly combed through. Then combine all sections and comb though it again. If you're gentle about it, brushing is also OK, but it really depends on which brush you use.
When you have a problem with tangles, I suggest you use a conditioner, like Aussie 3 Minute Miracle or any other conditioner that advertises its 'detangle-ablility'. Any product that has 'silk' on the label like Biosilk Silk Therapy works well too.
Don't rinse conditioner's out all the way when you shower. You want your hair squeaky clean after you shampoo, but not when you condition. This also helps to protect your hair and helps keep tangles at a minimum. (Works for me anyway.)
Detanglers are great to take with you when you go swimming in the summer too. (pools, ocean, lakes, streams...) Take your detangler with you. When you get out of the water, spray some on your hair and comb it right out! Each time you go back in swimming, the tangles will come right out afterwards.
Also, sleeping on a satin pillowcase can really help, just as wearing your hair up on top of your head when you sleep, Pebbles style if you have long hair. This also helps eliminate night sweats to some extent.
