Preventing Cancer by Building the Immune System

Preventing cancer is monumentally important in a highly toxic world. It is estimated that at least 10 million new cases of cancer are diagnosed worldwide each year.

In just 10 years, that number is expected to jump by 50 percent to 15 million. Those numbers are just estimates, so it could be a lot worse than experts predict.

Cancer is not prejudiced. It doesn't care who you are. It can affect anyone, anytime, anywhere. Chances are you know someone who has cancer right now. According to statistics, a total of 1,479,350 new cancer cases and 562,340 deaths from cancer were reported in the United States in 2009. Currently, one in four deaths in the United States are cancer related.

Cancer, although unpredictable, doesn't happen overnight or come out of nowhere. There is always a 'cancer trigger'. If your family is predisposed to certain genetic cancers, it can be a bit more predictable. In any event, preventing cancer is the best defense you have! Remember the old adage: 'The best defense is a good offense!'

An effective way to battle cancer is to starve cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

Preventing Cancer - What You Don't Know About Cancer CAN Hurt You!



  • Everyone has cancer cells in their body, which do not show up in standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion cells. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells after treatment, it just means the tests they've run are unable to detect them. This is only because they have not reached a detectable size, not because they aren't present.

  • Cancer cells can occur in your body between 6 - 10 (or more) times in your lifetime.

  • When your immunity is strong, cancer cells are destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

  • When you get cancer, it indicates that you may have multiple nutritional deficiencies. The cause could be genetic, environmental, food related, or from various choices in lifestyle.

  • To overcome nutritional deficiencies, change your diet to include various cancer fighting antioxidants, which will help strengthen your immunity. Preventing cancer is much easier when your body is equipped with the right nutrients.

  • Chemotherapy involves poisoning rapidly growing cancer cells but it also destroys healthy cells in the bone marrow and gastrointestinal tract, and can cause organ damage. People who live through chemotherapy treatments are as much 'chemo survivors', as they are 'cancer survivors'.

  • Radiation, while destroying cancer cells, also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues, and organs.

  • Initial chemotherapy and radiation treatments will often reduce the size of a tumor. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation does not result in more tumor destruction. Ever wondered why?

  • When your body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation, it compromises your immunity, hence you can be susceptible to various kinds of infections and other complications.

  • Chemotherapy and radiation can have adverse effects. Both can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant, which makes them difficult to eliminate. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other organs or tissues.

  • Sugar substitutes like aspartame and pure cane sugar should be totally eliminated from the diet. These are both considered to be cancer enhancers. By cutting out aspartame and products made with fructose corn syrup, you also cut off an important food supply that cancer cells feed on. Moderating the amounts of sugar in your diet helps in preventing cancer.

    Natural sugars (found in Manuka honey or molasses) can help satisfy a sweet tooth, but should only be consumed in very small amounts.

  • Cut back on table salt for preventing cancer too. All the good stuff in salt's been harvested and replaced with synthetic forms of the nutrients. A better alternative is sea salt but the best substitute is pure Canning salt.

  • Milk causes your body to produce excess mucus, especially in the gastrointestinal tract and cancer cells feed on mucus. By cutting out milk and substituting with unsweetened almond milk, cancer cells are starved, and cannot mutate or grow.

    Japanese women consume *soy foods on a daily basis, and although there are many differences in the diets and lifestyles of Japanese versus American women, researchers have identified soy foods as one possible contributing factor to lower breast cancer in Japan.

    *The caveat is that ALL soy in the US are genetically modified, which should be avoided. If you opt for soy products, you'll need to buy them from non-GMO sources.

  • Cancer cells thrive in acidity. Your body naturally prefers to be alkaline however, a meat-based diet is highly acidic. For that reason, it's best to eat fish or organic chicken regularly, rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, hormones, and parasites, which are all harmful to your body. This is especially true for people who already have cancer.

  • An alkaline diet consisting of 80 percent fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts, and fruits is preferable. (With only 20 percent from cooked foods.) Fresh vegetable juices made by juicing, provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed into the cells within 15 minutes of consumption. This helps encourage the growth of healthy cells. To obtain more live enzymes, eat raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F, or 40 degrees C.

  • Moderate caffeine in your diet, by consuming less coffee, tea, and chocolate. Green tea is a better alternative and is well known for preventing cancer. Drinking purified or filtered water will help avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, so it's best to avoid it also.

    You can increase your bodies alkalinity by simply adding apple cider vinegar water to your daily diet. Cancer is deterred in an alkaline environment. If you don't like the sour taste of vinegar water, consume water with fresh lemon or lime or take apple cider vinegar supplements instead.

  • Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. The older you get, the more live enzymes you need. Undigested proteins can lead to big problems with your immune system.

  • Cancer cell walls have a tough, protective protein wall. By refraining from and/or eating less meat, it frees up more enzymes to attack rigid protein walls and allows your body's Killer T cells to destroy cancer cells.

  • Antioxidants, minerals, and EFA's can help build up your immunity, which enables your body to destroy any cancer cells you have.

  • Cancer can be a debilitating disease of not just the body, but of the mind and spirit. A positive attitude will helps discourage cancer cell growth. Negative emotions like anger, bitterness, and anxiety leaves your body highly acidic and predisposes you to certain cancers.

  • Cancer cells cannot thrive in a highly oxygenated environment. Exercising and deep breathing helps provide more oxygen to the cells. Oxygen therapy is another known way of preventing cancer.

  • Microwaving your food is another big no no. Plastic containers contain dioxins, which are highly poisonous to your body. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. The combination of fat, high heat, and plastics, releases dioxin into the food you're heating up and ultimately into the cells of your body. Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer.

    Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of your body. Don't freeze water in plastic bottles, as this also releases dioxins from the plastic.

    Always use glass containers, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results without the dioxins. All microwavable foods should be removed from the container and heated in something else.

    Paper isn't as poisonous if you know what's in it. However, it's still safer to use tempered glass containers. A while ago, some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. Dioxins are one of the reasons.

    Plastic wrap, such as Saran wrap, is just as dangerous when placed over foods. As your food is nuked, high heat causes poisonous toxins to melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food you're heating. It's much better to cover food with a paper towel or not use a microwave in the first place.

    You can also help in preventing cancer by losing more weight. Fourteen percent of cancer deaths in men and 20 percent of cancer deaths in women may be due to being overweight or obese. Staying healthy is the best way to reduce your risks.
