Poofy Gray Hair

I'm 57 with gray & brown hair. (I'm not coloring it.) I've always had frizzy hair -- now I have it short & layered, but the humidity makes it POOF out all over. It's always been wash, dry, & go, and I don't want to change that now. I'm asking for the best cut, and what would I tell the stylist?

I think the layered haircut you have is fine. Its your hair that needs some help. You could ask your stylist to lightly thin the areas of your hair that poof. If she understands how to use thinning shears, then she'll know exactly what to do. Make sure she doesn't overthin your hair though. That might make it even poofier!
Also, you might want to try
smoothing shampoos and/or
smoothing conditioners. One smoothing product I love is
Dumb Blonde Smoothing Stuff from Bed Head. You can use it for all hair colors.
I too, have
frizzy hair, especially when the humidity kicks in during the summer.
Smoothing products don't straighten your hair, they simply smooth the hair cuticle which helps your hair behave and lay down better.
You might also try a
leave in conditioner. These help add weight to your hair which also helps to hold it down.
