9 Ways Organic Foods Can Lower Your Weight

Converting to organic foods may seem impossible but in all honesty, the switch really isn't as expensive as you might think. Heck, my son and I are on a limited income and we did! Ditching man made toxins in favor of a more holistic diet only makes sense - especially if you've got health concerns caused by excess weight. Plus, the taste is far superior! You’d be amazed!

Too much of the typical American diet today is dominated by convenience and affordability. Quick foods that are grabbed and eaten on the run, are making people sicker and fatter. And that's the truth!

The more consumers demand more organic choices, the closer we get to a world that isn’t dominated by chemicals. You see, organic foods used to be the norm but were replaced over time. Much of the food's that Americans consume today, (like GMOS), were slipped into the food chain without our permission. However, our parents knew well the benefits of eating farm to table. Isn't it high time that we get back to that mindset?

Why Obesity Rates are So High

There are over 84,000 chemicals on the market today and few have been tested for safety or efficacy. However, we do know what a few of those chemicals do in the body, and it’s not good news. You see, chemicals are terribly addicting. Many trigger chemicals in the brain to block leptin, a protein in the brain that produces satiety. Without knowing if you’re full or not, you are bound to keep eating.

Strange isn’t it? Before there were so many chemicals in our foods, most people weren’t overweight. It’s almost as if someone planned this...

Why Its So Hard to Make the Changeover

Most people today dislike change. They seem to like ignoring the facts, in favor of the status quo. They're comfortable with their quick fixes and fast food options. Most people today would rather make excuses than make their own food! Sorry but it's not that hard! When I switched over to organics, it took time – so be patient with yourself. If the price factor has deterred you from making the switch, here is what I’d say.

What price will you and your children pay for not changing what you put into your body? I can tell you from personal experience that you’ll be paying more in the long run to combat diabetes, cancer, allergies, asthma, gut problems, hormone disruption, and more. GMOS alone are now linked to over 22 different diseases). So don’t tell me you can’t afford them! With prescription drugs reaching all time high prices, you can’t afford not to!

9 Ways Organic Foods Decrease Your Weight

  • No chemicals in your food means no addiction – no cravings and no deadly side effects. As your body and system becomes cleaner, your hormones will balance and your metabolism will increase.

  • Your energy levels will increase as toxic chemicals are eliminated from your body. When you have more energy, you’ll burn more calories naturally.

  • Organic foods have a higher level of nutrients and lower level of metals, so smaller amounts of foods will help you feel satisfied faster.

    An international team of experts led by Newcastle University showed that organic crops are up to 60 percent higher in a number of key antioxidants than conventionally-grown ones. In the study, the team found that switching to organic fruits, vegetables and cereals – and foods made from them – provided additional antioxidants equivalent to eating between 1-2 extra portions of fruit and vegetables a day.

    The study, published in the British Journal of Nutrition, showed significantly lower levels of toxic heavy metals in organic crops. Cadmium, which is one of only three metal contaminants along with lead and mercury - was found to be almost 50 percent lower in organic crops than conventionally-grown ones.

  • Organic foods taste better than conventional and GMO foods, which is a great way to ditch their processed counterparts. Organic veggies are more dense and crispier, meats are more tender and palatable – devoid of antibiotics, and cereals and grains are more wholesome and just plain delicious!

  • Choosing organic foods over their counterparts also helps you FEEL better about the food choices you’re making. The psychology is clear. Too many overweight people today feel guilty about continuing to eat foods that only increase weight – which leads to feelings of insecurity and abandonment – and eventually depression. When you’re making better choices at the grocery store and start losing some weight, you won’t be as down in the dumps, I promise you!

  • Natural, organic foods are higher in natural fiber, that helps you feel full, and is easier for your body to assimilate. Conventional foods are typically very low in fiber, which lends to constipation and more cravings.

  • Organic foods help produce secondary metabolites (flavanones, tannins, phenolics, and resveratrol) that increase your body’s fuel-burning capacity. DRUGS that replicate those physical responses will never replace your body’s needs for more nutrition. Eating the right foods will.

  • Dieting and counting calories set you up for failure! Many companies today prey on consumers in the worst of ways – promoting low calorie foods or fat free foods. The problem is that the nutrients are replaced with man made chemicals, that only make cravings worse. This is one of the biggest lies that the BIG FOOD agenda pushes.

    When you consume foods that contain chemicals that your body can’t identify, your body stores them as fat. One of the biggest offenders is HFCS - high fructose corn syrup. It's found in everything from bread to yogurt to sausages. When these additives and man made chemicals don’t satisfy hunger pangs, you reach for more and more and more. The more you eat of these types of foods, the more fat your body accumulates. The more fat you have, the worse you feel about yourself. It is an endless spiraling of weight gain. When you replace those chemicals with nutrients your body is REALLY craving, your body responds in a very positive manner by crushing cravings!

  • One conventional apple could potentially contain more than 25 different chemicals. Even worse is that they can't be washed off - they are part of the food. The quality standards of foods have decreased so drastically over the past few decades – please be careful what you put into your body. Food producers trying to mass produce food quickly and cheaply, added chemicals like pesticides and herbicides to extend the life of our fruits and vegetables. Even if these chemicals were created with the best intentions, (which we know they weren’t) they’ve been linked more recently to troubling health problems, including obesity.

    Switching to Organic Foods - One Families Story

    Even the EPA now admits that about 60 percent of weed eliminators, 90 percent of mold eliminators, and 30 percent of insect eliminators may cause cancer. This makes you wonder why they're still being used in our food production? Since organic farms avoid using these chemicals to treat their food, it is evident that organic foods are a much safer option.

    Additionally, organic farmers do not use antibiotics in their farm animal feed, which are known to cause people to become more resistant to fighting disease over time. Organic farms are much safer for their employees to work at since they aren’t exposed to all those toxic chemicals. It's a win win scenario. The benefits cannot be disputed!
