Q) My hair is really oily and I am looking for a good oily hair treatment.
No matter what I’ve done in the past, it always comes back. My hair gets to the point that I can almost lube a car with it sometimes. It sometimes depends on the weather though.
I have tried everything from shampoo’s made for oily hair to coloring and bleaching my hair. Nothing works! Because of my hair, I have really bad acne. Is there anything you can recommend that might help me?
Professional Hair Care Answer - I wonder? Many times when people think they have an oily scalp and hair, they use a product for oily hair; when the real problem is that you have an overly dry scalp and your hair looks oily because your scalp is working overtime to produce more oils, because it's overly dry. So the question begs. Do you need an oily hair treatment or a dry scalp treatment?
If the oily hair products you've tried haven't worked, I suspect that you might have a dry scalp instead. Have you tried products for a dry scalp? This might be your best bet. Mild shampoos, like Baby Shampoos, work well for a dry scalp.
Any oily hair product will dry out your scalp and hair over time. That's because they tend to be a hit harsher in order to remove the oils from your hair. The problem is that when you remove oils from your hair, you are also removing oils from your scalp. This signals your sebaceous glands to work even harder to produce more oils! Try these suggestions instead.
Try a vinegar clarifying rinse every now and then, (one part vinegar to four parts water) but keep the rinse off your scalp. If you've got any oily hair products leftover, use them only on your hair's mid shafts and ends. Keep drying products off your scalp.
Try a hot oil treatment and apply it to your scalp. You'll find out quickly if the added oils calm down your sebaceous glands.
Don't brush your hair too often, as this can stimulate the oil glands to produce more oils.
Keep away from gels or shines that add more shine to your hair. If you do use them, keep them off your scalp.
Don't use a lot of conditioners. Use them only only on the mid hair shaft and ends if possible.
Rinse with a cool or lukewarm rinse to help close your oil glands.
Hask placenta helps a wide variety of hair and scalp problems. This product is tops in treatment reviews. People leave glowing reviews because of it's ability to solve many hair problems.
If you truly do have an oily scalp, try using the vinegar rinses and tea tree oil or jojoba oil shampoos, but also apply them to your scalp. These oily hair treatment products work very well! Hormones have an awful lot to do with over-productive sebaceous glands, especially if you're in your teens or early 20's. If you break out often and seem to have overly oily hair, it may very well be your hormones acting up. They should calm down over time. Everything always seems worse at certain times in your life, but then even out as time goes by.
Have you tried cortisone cream for your zits? Its a great alternative to Benzoyl peroxide but a word of caution. Don't use these products too often as it can thin your facial skin over time. Hydrogen Peroxide also works well to dry up zits fast. Some people swear by plain toothpaste. Find more acne suggestions.
Drink plenty of water and eat healthier foods. People who follow the raw foods diet have very few problems with acne. Water consumption is essential, especially during the winter months. Your nails, skin, and hair, all need extra moisture when the air is super dry.
