My conditioner won't rinse out of my hair!
Hi, I have long curly hair and I wash my hair two-three times a week. I find that when I get out of the shower and dry my hair, the top of my hair feels like it still has conditioner in it, but in the shower I rinse it out thoroughly.
Friends say I am washing my hair wrong or leaving my conditioner in, but I really don't.
What might be the problem and how can I fix it.

This is a common misconception that most people have about conditioners. Most people think their hair should feel squeaky clean after shampooing and conditioning but that's not true in most instances.
Shampoos are meant to be completely rinsed from your hair, true, but conditioners are meant to coat your hair and a small amount should be left on your hair.
When it comes to conditioners, you
want to leave some on your hair! (But not on your roots, where conditioners should never be applied. This is because your sebaceous glands (that produce oils) are located on your scalp. Add too many oils and your roots can look greasy.)
Without some conditioner being left on your hair, your hair would be so much more susceptible to breakage and damage, especially when you combed it out. This is especially true of
curly hair (which gets knots like crazy),
wavy hair,
thick hair, or chemically treated hair.
On thin, straight, or
short hair, conditioners should be rinsed out of the hair but only if you don't want to add any extra weight to these styles.
As long as your hair doesn't look or feel greasy, you're totally doing the right things and it sounds like your conditioner is totally working well!
