MSG, otherwise known as monosodium glutamate, is a common ingredient but has many different unassuming names! This questionable food additive has been hidden from the consumer but that's exactly why it's so important to know what's in your food!
Even though it's supposed to be good for you, it's been cleverly concealed because manufacturers don’t want you to know it's there! This just doesn't make a lick of sense!
Monosodium glutamate is found in every chicken dish served at KFC.
That's exactly why it's so "finger licking good!" Add to that fact, the chickens at KFC are given vast amounts of steroids to make the serving sizes BIGGER. They also subject their chickens to inhumane living conditions that should NEVER be permitted! I stopped eating their food long ago and suggest that everyone do the same! Colonel Sanders would not be pleased!
The weird thing is that the food at KFC may actually have a slight edge over foods served in Chinese restaurants when it comes to said content.
It's also been added to the foods at: Taco Bell, McDonald's, Wendy’s, Burger King, Hardees, TGIF, Chilis, Applebee's and Denny's. And that’s just the tip of the iceburg lettuce.
The Truth about MSG
It is a powerful *excitotoxin. Aspartate and L-cystine are added to many foods frequently but the FDA doesn’t require that those ingredients appear on labels.

The side effects of regular consumption of MSG include depression, disorientation, eye damage, fatigue, and mystery headaches.
It makes you gain weight, even in small amounts. Why? Because monosodium glutamate affects the neurological pathways and disengages the "I'm full" function in the brain.
It's praised because of it’s ability to make the elderly eat more and therefore live longer. It's most probably added to the foods in nursing homes for it's [alleged] longevity benefits! No wonder grandma's been packing on the pounds!
Monosodium glutamate has been touted by the Glutamate Association as a revolutionary flavor enhancement with nutritional benefits.
Monosodium glutamate might be a flavor booster but it’s also a fat booster. It causes you to gain weight where it’s most dangerous too; the midsection. It's also extremely hard to exercise off.
Even in small amounts, children are highly sensitive to it and MSG should not be given to them. In hundreds of studies around the globe, scientists created obese mice and rats to use for studies on diet and diabetes. As you probably already suspect, no strain of rat or mice is naturally obese. Rats just don't get fat in nature. The rats in the experiments were injected with MSG from onset of birth and all of them became obese.
Monosodium glutamate is added to food because it is very addictive when you eat it. The more you eat, the more you want!
Monosodium glutamate manufacturers themselves admit that they knowingly and purposely addict people to their products. MSG makes people choose their product over others, and entices people to eat more of the food than they would have without the MSG.
The FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added to food. They claim it's safe to eat in any amount.
Studies showing that monosodium glutamate contributes to obesity were observed and written about as early as 1978. You likely never heard anything on the news about it though, right? Both the medical research community and food 'manufacturers' have known these side effects for decades!

The bottom line is this. Be more mindful about the foods you eat and purchase. Avoid MSG as much of the time as possible and keep it away from your kids!
