More Sheen for Gray Hair

I've embraced my gray hair for years. (since about 11 years old...smile) Premature gray runs in my family. One member of the family covers their hair up and the other doesn't. Anywho, I'm interested in this subject. I've tried several things over the years and I'm wondering from your experience with hair care if you have any recommendations for giving gray hair sheen.
I've used coconut oil before but for my "fine" and dense hair its a little to greasy and weighs the hair down. Looking forward to your opinion about sheen products. Thanks Caroline. I love your website.

Thanks Sandra! I really appreciate your sweet comments! Gray hair has more refraction because of it's absence of color. However, it can become dry and dull just like any other hair color. I use
argan oil to strengthen my hair and give it more sheen. What I found out over time was that when I applied it to dry hair, my hair looked greasy too! Then I tried applying it to wet hair and it made such a huge difference! No more greasies! (To apply oils, cover your hands with a small amount of 'any' oil and then tap the oil into the hair. Avoid hair roots and keep tapping the product into your hair. Then comb through thoroughly and apply the rest of the oil left on your hands to the ends of your hair. Lightly smooth your hair with your hands and then comb through again.)
Also, there are a lot of other great hair products you can use besides oils.
Smoothing creams applied to wet/damp hair also work well because they help lay down the hair cuticles. When cuticles are raised, hair loses its ability to refract light. When cuticles are closed properly, hair shines more! This is true for
curly hair or
straight hair! (You can also opt for shampoos and conditioners that help control frizz. Look for the words sleek or smoothing on the labels!)
Another great product that many women don't know about are hair glazes. These work well when used over time. They are applied to hair just as you would apply hair colors but only coat the hair. You can buy them in many colors or opt for a clear glaze that only promotes shine. I use
John Frieda clear hair glaze because of its great price but there are other options like Sebastian Cellophanes and Redkin Shades EQ. The more you use glazes, the shinier your hair becomes and they do not make your hair greasy at all!
