Makeup Colors for Brunettes with Fair Skin Tones

Makeup colors for brunettes with fair skin tones are naturally color shades that blend well with your skin tone and your hair color.

Brunettes with fair skin typically have lighter colored hair, but there are no set rules for skin tone based on hair color alone.

There are many dark brunettes with fair skin tones! Your hair color should give you clues about your makeup choices, but don’t get fooled. You’ll need to select colors according to your skin tone too.

When you have dark brown hair and fair skin, you have natural golden and red colors that flawlessly highlight your hair. Use them in the makeup colors you choose.

Lighter brown hair colors don’t have as many natural highlights and ash brown colors and very dark brown (black) colors are devoid of natural highlights altogether. All of these things set the stage for your make up color choices.

Makeup Colors for Brown Hair, Fair Skin Tones

If you have fair skin, you’ll need to use facial cleansers that are gentle to your skin. If you have sensitive skin, use cleansers that are specially formulated for sensitive skin. Use toners that have very low salicylic acid in them because anything harsh on your skin can dry out your skin. Moisturizers need to be a bit heavier or cream based if you have normal to dry facial skin. You can match your natural colors best by knowing your color season.

Foundation Colors

Foundation makeup colors can be a bit warmer when you have brown hair. Still, you’ll need to select foundation colors that match your natural skin tone. You can use tinted moisturizers instead of foundations if you don’t like to use them often. These are great for a more natural look. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is one of the best buildable tinted moisturizers on the market.

If you’ve got a special occasion or even just going to work, foundations are great because they help block out the natural elements that expose your skin. Still, you should choose foundations that blend well with your natural skin tones.

If you have flush skin or have red undertones, stay away from beige foundations. They will add red to your skin which is not what you need. You’ll need foundations that cover or counteract the red blush colors you naturally have. Instead try buff colors, ivory, or golden foundations. If you have dry skin, use cream foundations. If you have normal to oily skin, use mineral foundations or liquid foundations.

Lash and Brow Colors

If you have fair skin with brown hair, your brows and lashes are always brown. Colors can vary however from light brown to dark brown. When you use brow or mascara makeup colors, you’ll want to enhance, not dominate your natural colors.

Choose mascara colors that look best with your skin tone. Lighter skin colors can use brown, green, blue, purple and sometimes even pink mascara! Match them to the tone of your eye color to brighten your eyes. The colors you use depends on the occasion and your mood.

You might also think about mixing and matching them to your eye color. People with green eyes might try brown mascara with blue mascara on the tips of your lashes. Women with blue eyes, might try black mascara with green mascara on the tips of your lashes. There are no limits. Mascara colors are a great way to play up your eyes, leave the ordinary behind, and have a blast!

Black mascara is a standard for every hair color so use them for your power plays. Glossy black mascara looks terrific for a fun evening out clubbing! If you don’t want to add color, use a clear mascara that enhances your own lashes. If your lashes are lacking, try false lashes to plump them up.

For the best look, use brown colors for your brows.

Eyeliner Colors

Big brown eyes look great in liner colors that range from brown, black, blue, green, and purple. These all do well for you. If you’ve got blue or green eyes, you’ll need to be a shade more conservative. Use blue, brown, black, and green liner colors. Purple can work for you if the color isn’t too soft. Black liners can also enhance your eye color and the size of your eyes.

Apply liners above the top and below the bottom lashes for a bold look. Don’t complete both lines though cause you’ll only look like a criminal. If you use a liner all the way along the top lashes, only line the bottom third of your outer, lower lashes. Use them wet or dry and smudge for a smoldering appeal. You can make your eyes pop by either extending the lines outside your natural eyelashes, or by applying a white eyeliner to the rims of your eyes, on both top and bottom. (The rims of your eyes are above your bottom lashes and below the top lashes.)

Eyeshadow Colors

Brunettes with fair skin can use a wide variety of shadow makeup colors. Lighter earth toned colors look good on just about every gal with brown hair. When you think of shades to try, think about fall colors. Try shades of warm greens, yellows, pinks, burnished browns, and gold.

If you buy eyeshadow trios in your favorite shadow colors, you should always apply the medium color all over your upper lids, the darkest color to the crease of your upper lids, and the lightest color on the inside of your eyes. If you didn’t use liner under your bottom lashes, apply the darker color along the lower lashes only on the outside of your eyes.

If you have brown hair with green eyes, you need to use your eye colors to blend your look. Brown and green are both wonderful colors that look good with your eyes. Choose lighter brown and green colors that match your natural eye color.

Brown haired ladies with blue eyes can add glamor by using blue or dark brown colors. Brown haired with brown eyes? Your color choices are open ended. Do stick with softer shades of your favorite colors because of your fair skin though. Darker makeup colors will only wash you out.

You might also think about using eyeshadow colors to create a smokey look. Smokey eyes look great with every eye color. Think about trying peel off shadows that make applying eyeshadow a Jamaican breeze!

Blush Colors

Blush colors should remain soft yet pleasing. Use peach blush, pink blush, and lighter bronzer colors that add warmth to your skin. Apply them to your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, the center of your forehead and the center of your chin. Bony protrusions are the place for a touch of color on your face. This is where the sun hits your face and will help add a touch of color without overpowering your face. Remember to blend your blush with a large makeup brush.

Shimmer makeup is a great tool too. A soft touch of shimmer on your cheekbones create a glowing complexion. Don’t go overboard though. Just a touch will do.

Lip Colors

People with fair skin need to select lip colors that blend naturally with your own lip colors. Neutral makeup colors work well, as do nudes, soft pinks, peaches, and even lighter copper colors are awesome choices. Fiery red lipsticks can also look fantastic for special occasions. Red colors that have blue bases can be funny. They look good on some people but not on others. Trial and error will be your guiding light. Sometimes blue based red lipsticks can make you look like you starred in The Night of the Living Dead. If they do, instead use lip colors that warm up your face and give you a less dramatic effect.

If you know you're going to be out all night, use long lasting lipsticks. These can be a lifesaver when you're sharing your lips with exotic drinks and other party goers. You won't have to keep reapplying them all night!

  • If you want your makeup to last longer than you do, be sure to use a makeup primer on your face before you apply makeup.

  • If you like to use glitter, you can apply a soft sparkles over your eyeshadow makeup colors for festive occasions or late night parties.

  • If you want to set your makeup colors, apply a translucent loose powder lightly all over your face, then brush away excesses with a large makeup brush.

  • Pearl colors also look great with brown hair. Add pearly colors inside your eyes, on your brow bone, or over your cheek colors.

The makeup colors you choose for your brunette hair and fair skin should be based partly on what colors make you feel good too. Typically the colors that look best on you should be sensual and sophisticated naturally!
