Makeup Applications for Red Hair with Fair Skin
| | Makeup applications for red heads with fair skin should compliment, not detract, from your natural beauty. Anyone who was born with a head full of red locks and a face full of freckles, knows what colors look best on her by a certain age. |
Red heads are naturally beautiful although only about 2 percent of the population are actually born with red hair. Actresses like Nicole Kidman, Reba McEntyre, Martina McBride, and Julianne Moore have increased the popularity of red hair and made it more appealing than ever!
Not all red heads are created equal though! Even if you weren’t born with red hair, you can 'go for it' with hair color. You can choose from different red hair colors like strawberry, brilliant red, orange red, copper, burgundy, chestnut, plum, and auburn. However, regardless of the red hair color you choose for yourself, your makeup should not overwhelm your fair skin tone. Makeup for red heads should enhance your facial features and look naturally gorgeous! Makeup Colors for Redheads with Fair SkinMost natural redheads have fair skin tones. That means that your skin is most susceptible for burning fast in the sun. Always wear a good sunscreen under your makeup if you’re going to be out in the sun for any length of time. Using sunless tanning lotion will help you get a tan without the harmful exposure. You can also use tinted moisturizers for a natural look. Foundation Colors Your foundation makeup should match your skin tone, period. If not, it'll stick out like a sore thumb and won't compliment you. If you like a bit of color, try one color up away from your natural skin color without overwhelming it. Tinted moisturizers are a fantastic idea for days you don't want to slather on lots of makeup. They add color without overdoing it. Your makeup applications for foundation should not include beige colors, especially if your skin flushes easily or you have red undertones. Beige has a hit of red in it, which will only make your skin look more flush than it already is! Opt to use ivory, porcelain, or lighter golden foundations or sheer foundations that are devoid of red colors. If you have dry skin, use cream foundations. If you have normal to oily skin, use mineral foundations or liquid foundations. Lashes and Brow Colors If you have fair skin, your eyebrows and eyelashes are usually a lighter color and maybe hard to see. You may need to use a coat of clear mascara to help elongate lashes and maybe even an eyelash curler before applying mascara. If your eyelashes are extremely sparse, you might decide that you need false eyelashes. You can go for a full set or just fill in single lashes. Glue three to five individual, medium-length false lashes to the outer corners of each eye with a good pair of straight tweezers for precise application. In most makeup applications, stick to brown mascara and brown eyebrow pencil. Black is good for formal nights out but brown is best for everyday wear. Brown colors just blend in better with red hair colors. You can get away with black mascara for special occasions or a night out on the town with your girlfriends. Use a glossy black mascara for black tie events! You can also choose various mascara colors that match your eyes. Green or blue mascara looks seductive with blue eyes, just as blue or green mascara looks alluring with green eyes. Purple mascara might work if you don't have red undertones and darker red hair. Mix mascara's for colorful flairs in your makeup applications. There are no given boundaries in your makeup applications. You are the queen of your own castle! Your makeup should emphasize your playful nature and accentuate all that's flagrant about you! If you find that color mascara overwhelms your face, try using clear or brown mascara to define lashes, then add colors to the tips of your lashes only. This gives you a glimpse of color without adding a lot. As a general rule, stick to soft brown colors for your brows, and even though your brows are a light color, you still need to shape your eyebrows! Eyeliner Colors | Your eyeliner colors should blend well with your mascara choices. Brown, black, blue, green, and light purple eyeliner colors can all be worn. Just don't overdo them! Instead, use them in your makeup applications to accentuate your natural eye color. If you have blue eyes, teal blue liners work well just as teal green liners look pretty doggone awesome with green eyes. Occasionally, use a very thin line of black liners to pop open your eyes. Black liners can set the stage for your eyeshadow makeup applications. Apply your eyeliner colors above the top and below the bottom lashes to add drama. Don’t complete both lines though. If you use them all the way along the top lash line, only line the bottom third of your outer, lower lashes. Smudge them for more sexuality. Make your eyes pop by either extending the lines outside your natural eyelashes, or by applying a pencil white eyeliner to the rims of your eyes, on both top and bottom. If you have close set or narrow eyes, you can open your eyes by using a white liner above your top lashes. * The rims of your eyes are above your bottom lashes and below your top lashes. They are also called your 'waterlines'. | Eyeshadow Colors If you have a fair skin tones think soft, in your makeup applications. Try colors like taupe, chestnut, camel, gold, beige, honey, tangerine, terra cotta, russet and raisin. Use darker shades in the creases of your upper eyelids to create contrast and help draw out your eyes. You can always find eyeshadow trios in your favorite shadow colors. Always apply the base (medium) color over your entire eye lids, the darkest color to the crease of your lids, and the lightest color on the inside of your eyes. If you didn’t use liner under your bottom lashes, apply the darker color along the lower lashes only on the outside of your eyes. This makes your eyes look bigger and better! Your makeup applications for shadows can also include earthy tones in green, yellow, brown, burnished orange's or reds. Of course, you'll look fantastic in most any pastel make up colors too. Red heads with green eyes might even try red-based hues like mauves and plums. Brown-eyed sweeties can wear anything from midnight blues to neutral tones. Red heads with blue eyes look fantastic in gray’s, browns, and some shades of blue colors that match your natural eye color. Makeup kits give you so much more bang for your bucks! Have fun and experiment when you apply eyeshadow. You are the decision maker and need to be happy with your own makeup! Use any shades that makes you feel good about being you. Smokey eyes are also a good option. They look great with every eye color and every hair color. Blush Colors Blush colors should remain soft and feminine too. Use soft shades of peach or pink or light golden bronzers to accent your fair skin. Apply them not only to your cheekbones but also to the tip of your nose, the center of your forehead and the center of your chin. Any bony protrusion is the place for a touch of warm color. Its where the sun naturally hits your face and will help warm up your pale face. Don’t forget to blend though. After you apply blush, use a large makeup brush and blend the blush. Do not leave lines of demarcation. People want to see you, not your makeup! Lip Colors People with fair skin and red hair need to select lip colors that blend naturally with your own lip colors. Your makeup applications should include neutral colors that blend well with your natural lip color. Nudes, soft pinks, peaches, corals, and even lighter copper colors can look terrific. If anyone ever told you to stay away from pinks, they were dead wrong! Pink lip colors look fantastic on every skin and hair color! For formal occasions, try true red lipsticks but be careful when you use blue based red or pink colors. On some people, they can turn your lips into a frozen tundra. Softer lip colors warm up your face give you a less dramatic effect. Don't forget about lipglosses. Gloss, lip shimmer and lip plumpers are gentler ways to accentuate your facial features. Use a soft glittery gel to add soft sparkles over your eyeshadow colors for festive occasions or late night parties. If you want to set your color, apply a make up primer before makeup application. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion is one of the top rated eyeshadow primers on the market and is very inexpensive if you have a hard time keeping shadows in place. After your makeup applications, apply a light dusting of translucent loose powder lightly all over your face, then brush away excesses with a large makeup brush. Light pink shimmer or pearl shades also look great with red hair. Add them inside your eyes, on your brow bone, or over your cheek colors.Your makeup applications should always please you first! Don't let anyone tell you the colors you choose are wrong for you. Your makeup should make you feel like your red hair makes you feel! Like you're the star of your own sizzling, hot play!
