Make Thick Hair Thinner

by Kat
(u.s.)

Hi, I'm a teen and have dark long medium thick hair and I was wondering if there's any way to get pretty thinner hair like some asians have like this: Asian Style Hair

I had my hair thinned out before but it wasn't thin enough. What would i tell my stylist? Thanks!

The easiest way to 'tell your stylist' is to just take a picture of this haircut into the salon where she works. Ask her if this type of haircut is possible for your hair, given your hair is so much thicker.

Using a flat iron is a fast efficient way to make thick hair look thinner but it can also degrade hair after prolonged use. Permanent hair straightening is also an option (hair rebonding) but it's costly and your new growth has to be redone every couple of months.

Use of an oil to help control your hair is also a viable option. Argan hair oil or coconut oil can help tame your hair and make it lay down properly. Use sparingly on wet hair, comb through, and blow dry downward using medium heat.

You could also try using smoothing conditioners, which help to defrizz thicker hair. Another product to try is Dumb Blonde Smoothing Stuff, which works well for all hair colors.
