Mad As Hell at Chase Bank!

by Frank
(New York)

I too received the same notice in the mail. "Important Changes To Your Account". I am (was) paying 8.99%. The notice stated that it would increase to 12.99%. I have never missed a payment or been late. I called the customer "service" number and asked for more information. I was treated like a piece of trash and not like the good customer I have been for the last 5 years as a cardholder. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told it will do no good!! The moron on the phone said to either keep it at 12.99% or close it and continue paying it at 8.99%. Closing it of course will affect my credit score which I worked hard to increase.(By the way if anyone has more info on how much it will affect my score, please advise) I feel as though I am being punished for the bank's bad decisions. Chase really bites on this one.

I'm ringing you loud and clear Frank! Kudos to you for standing up for yourself and expressing your anger! You should be angry. We all should!

What government is going to do about this injustice is for all to see! I heard something recently about a class action lawsuit that was going to be filed against Chase Bank. I hope so! They should be held accountable by 'obtaining money on false pretenses'. My rate was supposed to be fixed, as I'm sure many others were.

You can find basic information about how closing a credit card account affects your credit rate on the referring page, but you will need to contact a financial advisor to find out how it specifically affects your own score. It all depends on where you started from, (i.e. how long you've been establishing credit), and how high (or low) your score was, before the change.

From the stimulus package to the rate hikes, and everything else in between, I have no clue what our government is doing to us. Its all a load of crap on top of more crap! They're all a bunch of crooked a**holes!
