When you need to lose weight fast, there are a few unique ways to go about doing it. Throughout your life, there may be occasions that warrant slimming down a little before the celebratory event.

Weddings, graduation, High School reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, and prestigious parties can happen at any time during the year! There's a lot of pressure placed on YOU and you want to look your best, right?

Did you know that some of the best ways to lose weight don't involve eating at all? In fact, living without food every now and then may be a fantastic way to re-energize your organs and clean out your system! Don’t think you can do it? Well, I bet you inadvertently already have!

Have you ever had a stomach or intestinal virus, or just been generally sick enough you didn't have any appetite at all? Sure you have! Have you ever been so stressed out that you couldn't eat and/or food was not appealing? Sure you have!

If you’re generally healthy before you get sick or stop eating but then you 'don't eat' for a few days, you don’t just shrivel up and die. When you get past life's debacle's, you often discover that you’ve lost a few pounds in the process. Am I right so far? The point is, if you can go without food for a few days, you CAN be successful at losing weight fast.

Special occasions can inspire you to jump start your weight loss endeavors quickly. Here are a few ideas to take the weight off fast. However, don't get fooled into thinking any of this is going to be easy. You have to be committed to the end results, even if you're just doing a quickie!

How to Lose Weight Fast

The Master Cleanse

The Master Cleanse diet (also known as the lemonade diet) has been around now for 50 years and is always an effective way to lose weight fast. Its a detox diet that gives the digestive tract a vacation. It's efficacy has been proven time and time again over the years.

Before detoxing, Stanley Burroughs (the originator of the diet) strongly urges people to slow down their consumption of food altogether. This puts a lot less stress on the digestive tract and better prepares you for what's coming. If you're a coffee and soda drinker, you'll have to give them up for the diet. Winding down your consumption beforehand and supplementing with vitamin B5 will help quell the onset of headaches you may suffer from caffeine withdrawal.

The lemonade diet is done for a minimum of 10 days. You will be drinking a lemonade mixture that consists of water, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and pure maple syrup. Drink six to twelve glasses per day, or whenever hunger pangs strike you.

Here is the recipe:

2 (tbs). of lemon or lime
2 (tbs). of genuine maple syrup (Grade A or B)
1/10 tsp cayenne pepper
10 oz. water (hot or cold as preferred)

Using a laxative several times a day (or flushing with epsom salt water) is also advised. You should have a minimum of three bowel movements daily during the program to help ensure that accumulated waste along intestinal walls is totally eliminated.

Do not stray from the original mixture or try and add protein shakes or supplements during the cleanse. If you want to lose weight fast, you have to follow the instructions or else you'll likely fail.

There are contraindications for anyone whose undergone an organ transplant or is presently taking immune suppressing drugs. Discuss the diet with your doctor first if you're taking other medications, which will ensure that the detox does not interfere with their effectiveness.

After the cleanse, introduce soft foods or other liquids into the diet slowly, then work up to more substantial foods. Eating wisely throughout your life is the best plan for weight control.

Fasting has long been part of religious cultures for many faiths. However in the US, only a small fraction of people understand it's benefits and importance. When the body is forced into the survival mode, it can and will survive for short periods of time without food. It can also improve the functionality of the entire body!

You will always need hydration through fluids but food is optional for a few days only. If you give up food for any amount of time, you are actually fasting. The people who sign up for and participate on reality shows do it, and so can you! You just have to get your mind right beforehand!

You will first need to decide how long your fast will last. You can fast intermittently (every other day) or one or two days in a row. It's totally your choice!

On the days leading up to your fast, go lighter on your meals. This will help you prepare your body to give up food.

If you can't handle eating nothing, opt for fresh produce, nuts and seeds, legumes, or whole grains but try not to exceed 500 calories daily. However, you MUST continue to consume plenty of plain water, black coffee, plain tea, or sugar-free beverages.

Avoid all processed foods (including meats) until your fast is over.

On the days that you are fasting, focus your attention elsewhere. Now is not the time to research new recipes! Also, stay out of the kitchen. Looking in the refrigerator or kitchen cabinets is counterproductive. It will only tempt you into cheating.

The Cabbage Soup Diet

Eating cabbage soup or just plain cabbage for a few days is a great way to lose weight fast too. If you eat enough cabbage, it will definitely clean you out. If you don't like cabbage, try Brussel sprouts, broccoli, turnips, collards, or spinach. Any green vegetable is sure to do the trick if you don't add any calories to them.

Cabbage Soup Recipe

3 cups beef, vegetable, or chicken broth
2 - 4 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups chopped cabbage
1/2 yellow onion
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1/2 cup green beans (optional)
1/2 cup chopped zucchini (optional)
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon oregano
salt & pepper to taste

1. Melt a tablespoon of REAL butter, saute onions carrots and garlic for 5 minutes.

2. Add broth, cabbage, green beans, basil, oregano and salt & pepper.

3. Simmer for a about 5-10 minutes until all vegetables are tender then add the zucchini and simmer for another 20 minutes or until ALL vegetables are tender.

This soup might not seem like much but it's truly yummy! You can make this recipe in the crock pot and leave out what veggies you don’t like and add what you do like. If you don’t like zucchini squash, then try yellow squash or have no squash at all. You can also make a large pot and freeze it for quick and delicious lunches or quick dinners. Cabbage soup anytime of year is a great way to lose weight fast!

Another great way to lose weight fast is to simply juice your weight off. Of course you will have to purchase a juicer if you don't already have one! Blenders don't work too well!

You will and do have to buy a lot of vegetables and fruits, but if you live near a local farmer's market you can get some really great deals. Anywhere you can buy them in bulk is good.

Because of the many health risks that most people have today, it's a good idea to discuss the idea with your doctor first. Most methods to lose weight fast are best to do only occasionally. During other parts of the year, reducing weight slowly is the healthiest way to take off pounds!
