Long frizzy, dry hair

by Rebecca
(Malta)

I am a 20yr old female. Since I was very young I always had long hair up to my waist/hips. Recently in the past year or so my hair became drier and frizzier! it doesn't feel and look really healthy! i trim it regularly every 2 months, however now i have the problem that i ended up with shorter hair (middle of my back). It grows very slowly + often get split ends so i trim it and hair gets shorter due to this! What can i do to grow my hair LONGER and HEALTHIER please?

Products i use:
Angel shampoo and conditioner
and sometimes Senscience for dry frizzy hair
use serum
- blowdry hair once in a while
- never dyed my hair

Hi Rebecca! I don't think you have a problem with your hair. I think your problem is with your hormones. Women in their late teens and early twenties often have hair problems, just because of the fluctuations in hormones levels. One minute they're raging and the next minute, not so much.

It sounds like you are doing the right things and using the right products. Be sure you are getting enough antioxidants from the foods you eat. Eat more brightly colored fruits and vegetables to ensure that your hair is getting good vitamins, drink plenty of pure water, and get plenty of sleep. Keep getting trims and use protein conditioners occasionally to help bolster your hair strength. Coconut oil is great for replenishing moisture. Apply to damp hair, comb through to distribute and leave it on your hair overnight, wrapped in a towel. Rinse and shampoo the next morning. Shea butter and argan oil are also great moisturizers and can be found in many hair products.

If you'd like your hair to grow faster, try eating more eggs (yolks), green leafy vegetables, and cereal. They contain Biotin, a B vitamin that assists growth of hair, skin, and nails. You can also incorporate other hair vitamins into your diet that help accelerate hair growth.

In time, your hormones will calm back down and your hair should regain some of it's previous good qualities. Try not to stress too much about it cause stress always makes things worse. Try and be patient in the meantime and realize that this won't last forever! Best wishes!
