Lift Dark Red Hair Color
by Tanya

I have naturally strawberry blonde hair. I used color with a blue undertone to go light blonde. But then I decided that I want to try platinum blonde and bleached my hair. I really liked it but my husband didn't. He wanted me to go back to strawberry blonde. I bought the color and it turned out to be spotted and more orange looking than anything.
I went and bought a deeper red color. Now my hair is still spotted looking and a darker red color. It is dried out and I want to go back to platinum blonde, without going orange. How can I do that?
I did the whole process in less then a month but I really don't like my hair as it is now. I want platinum blonde hair again. What do I need to do? Help please!

Tanya, this is going to be very hard for you to fix by yourself. Dark red hair colors are extremely hard to remove from your hair after they've been absorbed into the hair cuticle, especially if they are a blue and red base mix. If you try to lift your color, you can get either purple or pink hair.
Most likely, your hair became spotted because your hair was not evenly/properly moisturized. It would have done your hair a world of good to
deep condition it before you tried to color it back to strawberry blonde.
My best suggestion is to go to a salon and have it fixed this time. Yes, it will cost you money but as you said, your hair is very dried out and stressed. Your hair also needs some
deep conditioning hair treatments because of all the color processes you've put it through the last month.
If you were going to try and do this yourself, the only way to
safely get your hair back to platinum blonde, is to do a double process. *(You may need more but no less than two.) In a double process, you would apply a platinum hair color on your hair, then do it again. They'd be back to back color processes basically. Your hair may turn an off color the first time so be prepared. Each time you apply the platinum color, your hair will lift.
Be warned however, it could take 3 or even 4 colors to get it back to platinum blonde. Plus you'd risk damaging your hair even more than it is. I do not suggest doing this but I can't make decisions for other people. You should also know that I cannot guarantee a good outcome. You'd be coloring your hair at your own risk. You could also make things worse than they already are!
That's why I suggest that you go to see a color expert who may charge you a lot of money to fix it, but will get the desired results you want.
Also, if you do go to a salon, request someone who has advanced hair color experience. You're going to need expert hands on your hair to get good results.
