Keep Colored Hair from Getting Dry?

OK all over the internet I've heard all different kinds of ways to keep your colored hair from getting dry, but I'm not sure if it applies to my hair. I'm asking what should I do to keep my colored hair from getting dry?

When you color your hair, you should know if it's dry by the way it looks and feels. If it feels soft and doesn't look
dull and frizzy, then you are doing a good job
coloring your hair.
Many people color their hair and don't have any hair damage so it really depends on how you treat your hair and if you condition regularly. Deep conditioners should be used a few times a month for
longer hair and less often for
shorter hair.
Products like
smoothing shampoos and
smoothing conditioners help lay down the hair cuticle and contribute to the overall good health of your hair. Products that help smooth the hair cuticle are great because they allow your hair to reflect more light and keep your
hair silky and shiny.
In dry winter months, run a cool air humidifier in your home to help add back moisture to your
skin,
nails, and
hair. Condition your hair every time you wash it and don't over wash long hair. Long hair should only be washed realistically, about twice a week. Use shampoos and conditioners that are formulated for color treated hair and/or buy shampoos that don't have sulfites in them if you have
dry hair problems.
Overlapping hair color and/or using strong chemicals like bleach, color removers, or getting perms too often will dry out your hair and damage it. Once the hair is damaged, the cuticle is left wide open and you lose moisture like crazy. Of course, you're left with dry, frizzy hair if you don't take care of it properly.
