Is Hair Color Toxic

I was wondering after dying my hair. Does anyone know if hair dye is safe to touch? Not putting it in your eyes or mouth straight out of the bottle, but like if some got on the floor or counter or something else and you didn't see it, and your child touched it or something. Is it safe? Is it toxic?

Hair color is a chemical Lindsay, and is not safe to be around small children. It is not toxic to the touch, but small children like to put things (including little fingers) in their mouths.

You can touch hair color but its much safer to use protective gloves when you color your hair. Its not that you can't get some hair color on your skin but over time, you may develop an allergy to it. Better safe than sorry, right? Keep children away from the area until you're sure any spills have been thoroughly cleaned up with a moistened sponge. Also be sure to lock cabinets where you keep any chemicals.
