Is Hair Color Bad for Hair?
How bad is hair color for your hair? I'm an ash blonde and want to have a reddish brown color. I also have medium thin hair, chin length. Can you give me an answer on a scale of 1(ok) to 10(don't color!)?
I also would like to know if there is a way of growing hair thicker. I already take barm tablets. They seem to be similar to biotin?
Thank you very much and keep up this awesome site ;)

In a word, no. Coloring your hair isn't bad for your hair at all, unless you overlap often or use colors too often.
The problem with using darker hair colors (of any kind) on blonde hair, is that blonde hair is very porous. It will drink up any color you apply to it like a thirsty sponge. Deep conditioning beforehand might help some but blonde hair is notorious for sucking up color.
Red hair colors especially, are tremendously hard to remove from your hair once in place, without using harsh
hair color removers or
bleaching your hair.
Every woman is born with her own natural hair color for a reason. It best suits your
skin tone and matches your natural complexion.
A better idea would be to add some lowlights to your hair, in a dark ash color and maybe a few strawberry blonde highlights instead.
Darker reddish brown colors may seem like a good idea, but are best suited for darker hair colors. (Golden brown colors, which add a bit of red, might be OK to use!)
I can't say what the scale rating would be, because you weren't specific about the reddish brown color you want to use. (Level and color base are very important when you color!)
I have never heard of 'barm tablets' but did a google search for them. I didn't get any straight forward results but from what I could tell, they seem to be a brewers yeast tablet?
Brewers yeast is good for your hair growth but
Super Biotin has proven results too. It wouldn't hurt to take both of them.
B vitamins (also called the beauty vitamins) are critical for
hair growth but some people have a hard time taking them.
Biotin, (also a B vitamin) doesn't have any of the negative side effects that some B vitamins typically do.
