Infused Water – Slenderizing and Refreshing!

Infused water is a great way to break the doldrums of drinking the plain stuff and ramp up your daily intake. You may also be able to shed some weight because there are very few calories in most blends.

As an added bonus, the cost is modest (compared to other 'bought drinks') and you’ll get lots of extra antioxidants! Plus they're super refreshing and yummy!

Some people talk about how great infusions are for spring and summer! But why stop there? Why not incorporate them year round? Just stick to the produce in season and you’ll always have something fresh to enjoy!

You may have noticed that I talk a lot about water on this site! Why? Because it’s fundamental for good health in general! Its also because I have a deep appreciation for it; always have! We didn’t have a lot of options back in the early sixties but water was always available. On a hot summer day when my mom was cleaning the house, she’d lock us kids outside! If we got thirsty, we drank cold water right out of the garden hose! It sure got me into a very good practice! I simply want you to love it as much as I do! wink image

Water is truly the only liquid that satisfies true thirst! If you’re used to buying vitamin water, mineral water, or other faddish types of water, you’re in for a rude awakening. Many of these so called ‘natural blends’ contain chemicals/preservatives/artificial colors/corn syrup that aren’t so good for you.

In fact, toxic substances are found just about everywhere today (air, soil, water) so they’re extremely hard to avoid! Water helps remove much of that negative stuff your body can’t utilize along with adipose tissue (fat) and cells. What more could you ask for?

What if you don’t like water? That’s exactly the point of infusion, which adds wonderful flavors you can’t buy in a store! Plus infusion is an all-natural process! When you experiment and try a few different blends, you’ll be sure to find ‘the one’ you like best!

Experts suggest drinking 64 ounces of water daily, for both men and women. However, if you want to take off a few pounds, you’ll need double that amount! That way, you will get twice as many fat-flushing benefits, which accelerates weight loss.

How to Make Infused Water



There are no right or wrong ways to make infused water! You can follow the recipe below or personalize it to your liking! I like to use quart-sized canning jars to make my blends but you can use any glass container you have on hand! Alternatively, you can also use a pitcher and make more! The more, the merrier!

  • Slice fruit or veggies and add them (plus all other ingredients you're using) to the bottom of the container.
  • Fill it up with purified/filtered/sparkling water and cover with saran wrap. If you’re using a jar, use a jar lid.
  • Place in the frig for at least half hour or more to allow the flavors to infuse together. (I like to let them sit overnight.)
  • Add ice as needed.

    Keeps in the refrigerator for up to two - four days or more. It all depends on the blends you use and how fast they degrade.

    It is also suggested to fill the container with ice before adding water. The reason I don’t suggest this is because melted ice can sometimes have an strange aftertaste. That’s why I like to add my own ice after infusion.

    Which Blends Are Best for Weight Loss?

    Whatever blends you will drink the most of! The more water you drink, the more fat-burning ability your body will have! Here are some blends you may want to try however, if you’re a water-hater, use the blends you like the best, which will ensure that you’re getting your daily water intake!

    Tropical fruits: figs, mango, banana, pineapple, pear, kiwi, pomegranate
    Melons: watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe
    Citrus fruits: grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, tangerine
    Berries: blueberries, blackberries, cherries, strawberries, raspberries
    Other: cherries, apples, red grapes, peaches, plums
    Vegetables: celery, peppers (hot or sweet), cucumber, carrots, radishes, broccoli, cauliflower, beets
    Herbs: *mint, rosemary, thyme, stevia, basil, cilantro
    Spices: ginger, cinnamon stick, garlic
    Water: filtered water, sparkling water


    *You can find many different kinds of mint! My favorite is chocolate mint but you can also choose lemon, orange and other types.

    Fat Burning Infused Water Combinations

    Orange, lemon, ginger
    Cucumber, raspberry, grape
    Rhubarb, apple, cinnamon
    Strawberry and lime
    Pineapple and mint
    *Green tea, mint, and lime
    Cucumber, lime, and lemon
    Lemon, lime, and orange
    Strawberry and kiwi


    *Green tea is known for it’s fat-burning abilities!

    Can You Eat the Fruits or Veggies You’ve Infused?

    That all depends! If you eat up the contents of your infused water within a few days, they may still taste alright. However, if the produce has gotten mushy, it's best to toss them into the compost pile, feed them to farm animals, or throw them away.

    Although infused water may seem like a new idea to you, infusions have been used for thousands of years! Be sure to teach your children how to make them! It's super fun and they'll learn to love water just the same way I did! It's never too late to start!
