Accupressure for IBS with Constipation

Another great money saving tip to help IBS with constipation is to stimulate the bowels into action using accupressure.

It’s amazingly simple and it really helps. If you just don't seem to get that urge to go with regular consistency, you can access these accupressure points quickly and easily before you have to dash out the door to work.

The best part is that there is no cost! No products to buy. Nothing to mix! There are two accupressure points that will help you with sluggish bowels. Accessing both of these points will help your IBS!


Accupressure Points for Constipation

These points pertain to the meridians in the body. Meridians are energy systems that flow through the human body via a complex network of channels and are another part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. There are twelve of them.

One accupressure point is found on the hand in the meat of the web inbetween the thumb and the forefinger. (LI4)


The other pressure point is located on your arm. (LI11)

The pressure point on your arm, LI11, seems to work best to help stimulate bowels.

To find the location:

  • Bend one arm towards your body and relax it, then use the other hand to find the point.

  • The point is located on the forearm, parallel to the elbow bone. Run your thumb along the outside near the bend of the elbow on the forearm.

  • You can feel a slight depression in the bone. Keep searching along your forearm until you find it.

  • You will know you are in the right place as it will be VERY PAINFUL when you apply pressure there.

  • Gently massage it for a few minutes.

    When you use this point in particular, you should generally feel an 'urge to go' in just a short while. Utilizing these points can really help you with your IBS with constipation!

    It just takes a very little bit of your time and is something you can do in the shower or while watching the morning news!





    You will know you are in the right place as it will be extremely painful when you apply pressure here.



    These two points are both along the Large Intestine Meridian and are known as LI4 and LI11 respectively.

    These points are valuable as they help detoxify the body by relieving constipation and improve the functioning of the large intestine.

    Massaging these points also helps improve the complexion, relieve frontal headaches, shoulder pain, and toothaches.

    Who knew?

    Of course, one of the best ways to eliminate constipation woes for good, is to simply resupply the friendly bacteria in your body by taking probiotics. You cannot get sufficient amounts of these good bacteria just by eating yogurt. By the time yogurt reaches the consumer, the good bacteria is almost non existent. I was pretty darn furious when I found out about taking digestive enzymes. I've been chronically constipated for years but no medical doctors have ever suggested this to me before, even though they probably knew about it. I think about my father who died from a bowel obstruction. It was a horrible death and happened because he was addicted to Milk of Magnesia, because of his own constipation problems. If I had only had this information years ago!

    The simplest way to take back your life and relieve yourself of chronic constipation, is to simply take active culture probiotics. These are simply digestive enzymes your body can lose over time. If they aren't replaced, you get constipated. Along with fiber, active culture probiotics supply your intestinal tract with friendly bacteria you need for proper digestion. Of course, there are other ways to increase the frequency of your bowels, without reaching for a laxative!
