how to remove black henna

by Shoruq

I originally had brown hair. It was a light brown color in the sun. A few months a go I henna-d it black and now I want to have it lightened again to my natural hair color or maybe even a few shades lighter (see picture)

Now I know that I can't dye my hair cause dyes don't work on henna or they damage the hair when used over henna or something like that. So I was thinking that maybe using red henna on my black hair (very black not even dark brown) could lighten my hair and give a brown color similar or close to the one in the pictures? I don't know if that would work. I'd really appreciate it if you have ANY suggestions on how to lighten my hair. Thanks in advance.

**************

This information was taken from my Milady Cosmetology book so you can depend on it.

To successfully remove henna, start with dry hair and soak with 70 percent - 90 percent rubbing alcohol. On top of the alcohol, generously apply mineral oil. Cover your hair with a plastic cap and get under a hot dryer for minimum of half hour. (You can also use a heating cap which only cost around $20 at any Beauty Supply Store or use a blow dryer for around 5 minutes and then keep warm for the remaining time.) You can also keep the mineral oil on your hair for a longer time if you like, to ensure henna removal.

Afterward, don't rinse your hair but do apply shampoo to your hair. Emulsify the shampoo with your hair (for about 3 minutes), rinse, and shampoo again.

You can use this process again if there's still some henna left on your hair.

Once the henna is removed from your hair, you can use a regular hair color to your hair in your color choice or use henna again. Its totally your decision.

PS You are absolutely gorgeous!
