How to Get a Thick Poofy Hairstyle

I'm considering cutting my hair short...and I'm in love with this hairstyle. How would I go about styling my hair like this?

You will need shoulder length hair to follow this style. You will also need thick hair if you want it to look similar to this style.
It's really easy to do this but you have to have the right length and thickness!
Curl your hair to the back using a larger barrel curling iron or larger hair rollers.
Hot rollers would be the easiest way to get curls fast.
Be sure to apply gel or mousse to your hair while your hair is still wet/damp, before you blow dry. Curls look neater and crisper when you straighten your hair first too.
After your hair is curled, you will need to brush the top of your hair to the front. Then start backcombing/backbrushing it, starting at the crown and working your way to the front. You may need to backcomb the hair in the front along both sides also. This will give you maximum poof in the front especially!
If you're having a hard time getting your hair to cooperate, use a
root lifter to help you achieve the right height. If you need to add thickness to your hair, use
Matrix Amplify products.
After your hair is sufficiently teased, brush over the teased hair lightly, brushing to the back to smooth out the top layer only. You do not want the teased hair to 'show'.
You will need to set the style with a firm or medium holding hairspray to finish.
You can add hair ties, bows, clips, or head bands if you want to dress it up a bit.
