How to create layers to make thin hair look thicker

by Emily

Sorry its not the best picture

Sorry its not the best picture

I have really thin, long hair, my problem is that I really wanted layers, to give my hair a bit of volume and not be so straight. I have naturally straight hair and have been told that layers would ruin my hair, but I really want a change. I'm not happy with the way my hair looks! So does anyone know what I can get done to give my hair a bit more volume, and I would like my hair to have curves and to flick out a little. I also want to keep the length of my hair. I like my hair long :) Can anyone also tell me a bit more about layers and how they would look? thanx

Long layers are a simple answer to give you what you want, however, you may want to trim your hair first so the ends are more uniform and look thicker before you create layers.

There are three great ways you can layer cut your hair but only you can make that decision. Each of the links below are DIY videos, that show you exactly how to cut your own hair and what it looks like! Thin hair looks thicker with a few long layers but don't overdo them. Try a few layers to start with to help thicken your ends. If you decide you want more layers, you can always add more.

The best way to get straight hair to flip is to use a flat iron and simply flip the ends with the iron.

Use this technique for a few long layers only:

Long Layered Haircut

If you decide you want more layers, here's a great way to use the same technique to create more layers:

How to Cut Layered Hair

And here's a great way to get layers PLUS get a V shape cut. This cut does create more layers but looks fantastic with straight hair!

V Layer Haircut

Once you fully understand the technique, these cuts only take a few minutes to do but look awesome! Most women report that friends tell them their hair looks like it's professionally done! Thats a huge advantage for you! You save money not having to go see a stylist and get great hair!

You can also trim your own hair in minutes too, to get you started!

Hope this helps!
