Homemade beauty tips are just phenomenal to know when you run out of store bought products or you just can't afford them! Plus in many cases, you'll be omitting a plethora of chemicals found in most beauty products today! Re-purposing stuff you already have is just plain smart!

A great tip is to kick things off, is to really squeeze out all you can on the products you buy. The day of wasting stuff is long gone. Turn products you have upside down to recover every tiny weeny little drop left.

Use these homemade beauty tips to help you make good use of what you've already own!

Homemade Beauty Tips

  • If your nails are discolored (yellow tinge) from using too much nail polish, scrub them with a toothpaste using a soft bristled toothbrush. For stubborn stains, add a few drops of lemon juice; a natural bleaching agent!

  • Newly formed pimples can look unsightly. Instead of using a concealer, try rubbing a drop of Visine on the area. Wait 5 minutes and the redness should disappear.

  • Eliminate streaks and splotches after self-tanner application by rubbing the area with an alcohol based toner or astringent.

  • Have blotchy skin? No worries! Apply a thin coating of honey directly to your skin and leave it on for 5 minutes or so. Remove with tepid water. Honey moisturizes, soothes, and reduces the formation of blemishes by killing bacteria.

  • Use a cooking spray to help expedite the drying of your nail polish.

  • Tame those aggravating flyaway's by rubbing your hair with a dime-sized amount of lotion. For the best results, warm warm the lotion in your palm first.

  • Oily skin holds perfume scents longer than dry skin. Extend your perfume's fragrance by using a very thin layer of Vaseline or lotion on your skin prior to application. You will smell delicious for hours.

  • Use Crisco to remove makeup and as a moisturizer. Some hospitals use it to treat psoriasis and eczema and some Dermatologist's use it after chemical peels too!

  • Get blisters when you wear stilettos? Avoid issues by coating problem areas with petroleum jelly beforehand.

  • For oily skin, mix one tablespoon of brewers yeast with 3 tablespoons of water. Spread the mixture over your face and allow it to dry thoroughly. Rinse off with warm water first, then use cool water to close pores. Gently blot dry.

  • Next time you burn your forehead using your curling iron, reach for some yogurt! When slathered on burns, yogurt reduces swelling and redness and speeds the healing process!

  • Mix equal parts of lemon juice with baby oil. Apply to the back of your hands or on your face to fade discolorations.

  • Save your toilet paper rolls! Next time you want to roll your hair, use them to get some really unique curls! Secure with simple bobby pins.

  • Run out of conditioner? Use your fabric softener to smooth and soften your hair. If you buy the undiluted kind, be sure to dilute it. (Suggestions: 1 cup water: 1/2 cup fabric softener.) Apply it to your hair just as you would hair conditioner. Rinse well.

  • Adding rolled oats to your bath can help soothe the discomfort of dry, itchy winter skin or painful mosquito bites in the summer!

  • Parsley is a leading ingredient in breath fresheners you buy, such as Clorets and Certs. Eating just a sprig of parsley after each meal helps to freshen your breath.

  • Mash up a ripe kiwi fruit and use it to scrub your face clean! The seeds provide a built-in, all-natural scrub!

  • Combine 2 teaspoons of plain milk with one packet of knox gelatin. Apply to your nose or chin and allow to dry, then peel off. This combination will help remove unsightly blackheads!

  • Mix baking soda, corn starch, and melted coconut oil together to create all natural deodorant. Store in an airtight container and apply by hand.

  • Use a food processor to grind dried beet chips into a smooth pulp. Then use it a chemical-free blush!

  • If your lips are parched and peeling, try this. Mix equal parts of brown sugar, olive oil, and honey. Then use it as a scrub on your lips. Eliminating dead makes for smoother lipstick application!

  • Combine olive oil and aloe vera water to remove makeup naturally!

    To make aloe vera water: Combine 2 Tablespoons of both aloe gel and lemon juice with one cup of water. Mix the ingredients together in a high speed blender for at least one minute.

  • Moisten cotton pads with ice cold water or cold witch hazel. Squeeze excesses then lie down for a few minutes and place pads over closed eyes. When you get up, you'll feel more energized and your eyes will sparkle.

  • Apply a dab of whole fat milk to your eyelids and let dry. The butterfat in milk helps smooth lines and nourishes the skin.

  • If your eyebrows are too thin, apply castor oil to your eyebrows everyday to promote hair growth.

  • Your nail polish will always be smooth and easy to apply it you store it in the refrigerator.

  • To get rid of puffy eyes, place cold kiwi slices over them for at least 10 minutes.

  • Combine olive oil and a few sprigs of dried herbs, preferably grown in your own yard. (I use rosemary and thyme.) Allow it to sit for at least a couple of weeks. When you check it, it will smell heavenly. Use liberally on your skin to moisturize, protect, and repel mosquitoes naturally.

  • Combine a cup of corn oil with 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice and 2 teaspoons dried thyme. Massage the mixture onto areas of cellulite; on hips, thighs, and buttocks. Wrap your skin with plastic wrap to lock in body heat. For extra results lay a heating pad over each area for five minutes.

  • If you don’t have a dry shampoo on hand, apply witch hazel on your roots. Apply using a cotton ball and allow them to dry naturally.

  • Add 30 plain aspirin to a full bottle of your regular shampoo to make your own anti-dandruff shampoo. Shake well and allow to allow the aspirin to dissolve. Shampoo and rinse as usual.

  • Need an emery board and don't have one? Use the strike plate on a book of matches instead.

  • Using Pepto-Bismal® on your skin is a better facial than store-bought peel off masks.
