Bleeding Hemorrhoid Remedies that Work Great!

Finding the right hemorrhoid remedies is not generally hard if you know your own body. You can eliminate them for good if you treat the cause, which also helps get rid of the symptoms. Hemorrhoids are your body’s way of telling you something’s not quite right. The good news is that the condition is not usually life threatening and can be easy to treat.

Many people panic when they see blood in the toilet or on their toilet paper. Their first thought is Cancer. While bleeding hemorrhoids are not a sign of Cancer for most people, they can still cause alarm. When hemorrhoids bleed, most of the time the condition is not serious but does require your attention. Many medications work well to help control them, but only treat the symptoms, not the cause. If you want to get to the root of the problem, you must treat the cause!

This is medically what a hemorrhoid looks like internally and externally. They are sometimes visible and sometimes not visible, but you know they are there because of the sensations of burning and itching!

A hemorrhoid is really just an enlarged vein in the anus (also called a varicose vein). In a healthy person, the tissue around the anus fills with blood to help regulate bowel movements.

However, when there is constant pressure or other factors restricting blood flow, the veins become inflamed. Poor blood flow may cause a blood clot. That often results in a painful, swollen, protruding, and/or bleeding hemorrhoids. You will need some good hemorrhoid remedies if the problems persist.

Lifestyle changes and challenges can lead to hemorrhoids. Contributors include:

  • chronic constipation
  • poor diet
  • lack enough fiber
  • pregnancy
  • drinking too much alcohol
  • lack of exercise
  • sitting or standing for prolonged periods
  • excessive weight
  • aging
  • genetics
  • prolonged diarrhea
  • heavy lifting

If you are constipated and use a laxative to help control hemorrhoids, you can set yourself up for more grief later in life. Laxatives might seem like a good fix, but over time, your body can become dependent on them for proper elimination and you may have to take them for the rest of your life. This is not good. Imagine living in a nursing home and having to ask for MOM (Milk of Magnesia) everyday!

Hemorrhoids can be either internal or external. External hemorrhoid symptoms can be itching and burning or none at all. Streaks of blood may appear in the toilet or on toilet paper after bowel movements. Internal hemorrhoid symptoms are rectal bleeding and intense pain or itching. Internal hemorrhoids often protrude and become external. The presence of mucus and/or blood in the stools is also a sign of internal hemorrhoids.

Many pregnant women develop hemorrhoids, especially in the latent trimesters of pregnancy. Hemorrhoids happen as babies grow larger in the womb. Consequently, their weight adds lots of pressure on a woman's organs, especially the intestinal tract. After babies are born, hemorrhoids tend to disappear all by themselves. If you experience bleeding hemorrhoids during pregnancy, you do need to consult your Gynecologist to determine the right hemorrhoid remedies for you.

Alcohol has also been linked to bleeding hemorrhoids. Alcohol increases pressure in the lower intestines and thins the blood. Thin blood can cause the blood vessels located in the anus to burst more easily. Excesses of alcohol can cause them to bleed but sometimes even just one alcoholic drink can cause them to erupt. I recently had a several bouts of bleeding hemorrhoids this past summer that shocked me. I've had hemorrhoids in the past but never bleeding hemorrhoids. Hell, I thought I was getting my period! Once I started to examine my regular schedule, I was able to determine the cause.

Friday’s are my usual days to work outside my home office. Since bleeding hemorrhoids showed up only on the weekend’s, I determined that it might have something to do with the things I do on Friday’s specifically. I always have a few beers on the weekends to relax me, so first I tried cutting out the alcohol, but they didn’t disappear altogether. Therefore, I knew that alcohol was possibly a contributor but was not the sole cause. So I started thinking about other things that happen on Fridays. I remembered that the computer chair I sit on at my other job was much harder than my computer chair at home. Because I am pretty thin to begin with, I started sitting on a cushion at work on Friday’s. Since then I’ve had no bleeding hemorrhoids. I also tried tip one in the natural hemorrhoid remedies list below.

    Medical Bleeding Hemorrhoid Remedies

Rubber Band Ligation - Elastic bands are wrapped around the base of a hemorrhoid to cut off its blood supply. Within several days, the hemorrhoid dies and falls off. Some patients experience pain and bleeding after the treatment. Since this method does not address the cause of hemorrhoids, they can come back.

Infrared Coagulation - Infrared beam is used to burn off tissues to cut off the blood supply to the hemorrhoid. Five to six treatments (one per week) are necessary. Although it's advertised as pain-free, many patients complain of intense pain during treatment. Since it does not cure the cause, hemorrhoids can easily reappear.

Hemorrhoidectomy - a surgical procedure that removes hemorrhoids. Statistics have shown that this treatment may cause incontinence later in life so it is recommended only for severe cases. Many patients complain of intense pain during recovery, so it should be the last resort.

All of these procedures are painful, expensive, and embarrassing. They do not address the source of the problem and therefore may not be effective in the long term. Because they do not treat the source of your problems, you may seek an additional bleeding hemorrhoid remedies that treat them.

Simple home hemorrhoid remedies are to apply Bag Balm or Petroleum Jelly to them to reduce pain and itching. There are also herbal and natural remedies as well. Neem oil contains anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and is a good pain reliever and keeps the affected area bacteria free.

It is important to know that whatever medication you choose to use, whether it is conventional or herbal, it is crucial to change your dietary habits. Stop smoking and drinking alcohol if you need to, add more fiber rich food in your diet, and exercise more! A healthier lifestyle should help them a lot!

    Natural Hemorrhoid Remedies

Use Apple Cider Vinegar - Drink several glasses of diluted apple cider vinegar (1 T. apple cider vinegar with 12 ounces of water) during the day. Drink the vinegar water frequently, even in between meals. I tried this simple hemorrhoid remedies treatment and it worked great for me! Alternately, you can also soak a cotton ball with apple cider vinegar and apply it directly on the affected area.

Use Herbal Remedies - Many herbs can also be used as hemorrhoid remedies, such as Butcher's Broom, Horse Chestnut, and Bilberry, as well as Vitamin E. Try products like Hem-Relief for Hemorrhoids and Hemaron Natural Hemorrhoids Treatment. These contain many of the herbs mentioned above.

Use Colloidal Silver - Colloidal Silver is a potent antibiotic and can be safely used as a hemorrhoid remedies treatment. Products with good reviews are MesoSilver ® Colloidal Silver and Natural Path Colloidal Silver. Try soaking a cotton ball in colloidal silver and place the cotton ball on the anus for around 6 to 10 minutes. You should see the effect in a few hours time. Repeat this if necessary. More serious hemorrhoids may need several applications. For internal hemorrhoids, you would need to insert the cotton ball in the anus to have the best effect.

Other uses are: Colloidal silver can be applied directly to cuts, scrapes, and open sores, or on a bandage for warts. It can be applied on eczema, itches, acne, or bug bites. To purify water, add one tablespoon per gallon, shake well and wait six minutes. Mixed this way, it's tasteless. Some have used colloidal silver in a nasal spray mister - to reach the sinuses and nasal passages. It can also be used for topical use on kitchen and bathroom surfaces. Colloidal silver is painless on cuts, abrasions, in open wounds, and in the nostrils for a stuffy nose. It's excellent as an underarm deodorant, since most underarm odor is caused by bacteria being released by the sweat glands!

Use Cayenne Pepper - Cayenne pepper have the ability to reduce pain and stop bleeding. Just mix a teaspoon of cayenne pepper with a glass of water and drink it. Do this several times a day to reduce bleeding.

Try Vitamin K - Overt vitamin K deficiency results in impaired blood clotting, usually demonstrated by laboratory tests that measure prothrombin timing. (Clotting time.) Symptoms include easy bruising and bleeding that may be manifested as nosebleeds, bleeding gums, blood in the urine, blood in the stool, tarry black stools, or extremely heavy menstrual bleeding. In infants, vitamin K deficiency may result in life-threatening bleeding within the skull (intracranial hemorrhage).

    Food Serving Vitamin K (mcg)
    Olive oil 1 Tablespoon 8.1
    Soybean oil 1 Tablespoon 25.0
    Canola oil 1 Tablespoon 16.6
    Mayonnaise 1 Tablespoon 3.7
Broccoli, cooked 1 cup (chopped) 220

Bacteria that normally colonize the large intestine synthesize Vitamin K2, which is an active form of vitamin K. Until recently it was thought that up to 50% of the human vitamin K requirement might be met by bacterial synthesis. However, research indicates that the contribution of bacterial synthesis is much less than previously thought, although the exact contribution remains unclear. You can either buy Vitamin K or use products such as Nature Made Enhanced Absorption Calcium Supplement Plus Vitamin D and Vitamin K which has Vitamin K included with other supplements.

In the U.S., vitamin K1 is available without a prescription in multivitamin form and other supplements in doses that generally range from 10-120 mcg. Another form of vitamin K2, called menatetrenone, has been used to treat osteoporosis in Japan and is currently under study in the United States.

Probiotics - If you suffer from chronic constipation, probiotics might be your best choice in hemorrhoid remedies. Probiotics help restore the good intestinal flora (bacteria) in your intestinal tract. The good bacteria helps with better elimination. This can be especially important if you suffer from chronic constipation. For unknown reasons, simply eating cabbage a few times a week can also restore intestinal flora. Many newer yogurts have different types of probiotics in them, so try these if you are constipated. Relieving constipation will eliminate the cause of many cases of bleeding hemorrhoids.

Sustenex Probiotics and Florastor Vegetarian Capsules are two good probiotics to use.

Cold Hemorrhoidal Suppositories - Keeping your suppositories in the refrigerator or freezer is a good idea and one of the best hemorrhoid remedies. Cold shrinks/reduces inflammation and suppositories kept cold are much easier to insert therefore a lot less messy. Use a bit of KY Gel before inserting for pain free application. If you buy the generic brands like Equate Hemorrhoidal Suppositories, you will save money!

Many of these hemorrhoid remedies are easy to implement and can really help! If bleeding persists over prolonged periods of time, please consult your physician.
