If you want to look great, healthy make up is the best way to go. Women in general tend to over wear make up. We’d all look better if we could get back to basics.
Make up shouldn't clog pores. It should protect your skin. It shouldn't make you break out. It should enhance your looks and create harmony in the way you look.
Chemicals in make up can irritate the skin and cause disruption's. If you have sensitive skin, you can opt for products that are specially formulated for sensitive skin.
You don’t need a lot of make up to look great though. Just the basics will do~ Foundation is one thing I never leave home without. You just never know who you might run into:o)
Let's Face It!
Foundations make or break your look. If you don't have the right foundation, the rest of your make up won't look right! It need not be visible. Yet rather it should realistically be invisible and ENHANCE NOT EXAGGERATE your facial features. It should make you look eloquent and natural, not fake and unnatural.
Any make up you use should blend into your natural skin tone and be virtually impossible to detect. It shouldn’t look like you’re wearing make up at all. Healthy make up and healthy skin are essential.
Any make up that cakes or looks heavy on your face is not your friend!~
Use
make up
that allows
your face to
'breathe'.
Use
products
that
'protect' AND 'enhance' your skin at the same time.
Healthy make up is a basic step for a great look! A youthful, healthy complexion starts from the inside out.
If you take the right vitamins, eat the right foods and drink water, your skin will look more radiant too.
It's also better to underdo make up than over do it. Make up should compliment your face, not overwhelm it. That's why you should use healthy make up!~
Steps to a Healthy Glow
Clean your face first. Your face needs to be clean and fresh before any application. Wash your face first, then use an astringent to remove dead skin cells and to contract and close pores.
Always apply a good facial lotion for daily skin care. I use Oil of Olay for everyday wear and Olay Total Effects Moisturizing Vitamin Complex, which is also very effective. Use this as your base lotion then apply a serum over it. It really makes application of foundation a lot easier, whether you use creams, liquids, or minerals! I really like Olay Regenerist. It really helps make up glide right on.
For those of you who can afford more expensive serum's, Estee Lauder’s Idealist is heavenly! and works very well. Its got a great lemony fresh smell! (There is just something about it.) However, it's also got a high price tag. If you can't afford it, you can still get great results with Regenerist. It doesn't have that fresh lemony smell but it's inexpensive, yet very effective too!
Apply a chemical free or mineral foundation. Then apply a blush or bronzer to the cheek bones. Add a bit of lipgloss or an earth-toned lipstick and you will have a healthy glow!~ You just don't need a lot of makeup to look natural and fresh! Starting with clean skin is probably the most important part anyway!
For a natural look, use earth-toned shadows too! If you haven't checked them out yet, you need too! I recently found the neatest shadows I've seen in a long time. Have you seen POP Eyecakes? They are so cool! In every color combination you can think of! I ordered two of them recently and absolutely love them! Way cool stuff! Anyway....
Most of us middle aged women started out using Sheer Cover minerals by Guthy Renker years ago.
Then 'Bare Minerals' made the scene when they released their own version. Recently there has been a flood of every manufacturer getting in on them.
L’Oreal just came out with their version called 'Bare Naturals'. (which I don't like so much) Also Physician’s Formula has their own version. (which I like better) And recently I saw another version called ‘Airbrush Naturals’ by Diversified Distributions. That’s a company I’d never heard of. You have to buy their liquid minerals and airbrush tool to use them though.
All of them are made from natural minerals that are good for your skin, so ultimately the choice is up to you.
Mineral make up works well and saves a ton of time in getting ready for your day.
Some of them are more expensive to buy initially, but are an exceptional product. Sometimes you get what you pay for and quality is sometimes much more important than quantity. This is especially true if you have sensitive skin and want a brand name you can trust. Most quality products also last a good long time!
For my money I like Sheer Cover. They have a great product and were the frontiers in utilizing minerals.
Sheer Cover is silkier than other brands and just seems to glide on the skin better. I wish they had a few more choices of tones to choose from, but I am certain it's just a matter of time before they offer more.
Their product is healthy make up at it’s finest.
If you can’t afford it, then try a different less expensive brand. You will be doing yourself a big favor by using healthy make up for a more natural look.
You’ll look great and so will your skin!~
