Hairdresser Didn't Listen!
I went to a salon two days ago...an actual hair SALON, not a chain of hair cutters, and received a bad haircut from the male owner! The past two times I have gone to this salon, I have received excellent hair cuts from women who listened to me and cut my hair as I asked...long layers with the layers down near the bottom. They took their time and picked up my hair in sections to cut it.
The owner that cut my hair this time cut it as an operator would at a chain hair cuttery...quickly lifted my hair above my head and cut it at an angle, so that I now have a short layer on top that is a mile away from the other bottom layer. It looks terrible.
My only option, other than waiting for the shorter layer to grow out AGAIN, is to go back to the salon and have one of the girls even it out...but that will mean having to cut the overall length shorter. My husband doesn't want it to be shorter, so he advised me not to go. I am considering your Youtube video for future cuts...save us money and perhaps I will get the long layers I want.

Ha lady! I am so sorry this happened to you! Some hairdresser's think they're God's gift! I wished you had told him it wasn't acceptable. I hope you didn't pay for it! If you did, don't feel alone. Many of us have done just that! That is, pay someone for cutting our hair the wrong way! Why do we do that?
Hairdressers can definitely take advantage of you! You get all relaxed and then they talk you into liking your hair, whether you do or not! Then you get home and really look!
I appreciate what happened to you though. It happened to me a few times before I became licensed. I don't allow very many people to get their hands on my hair. I've had too many bad haircuts too!
Why the hairdresser angled the cut I'm not sure, but that will surely give you layers that don't necessarily blend.
You are right. In order to get the short layers blended into the long layers, you will have to lose more hair.
One thing that might minimize the 'bad haircut', is to blunt cut the angle out that he created. Cut it straight across for best results. You may lose another inch of hair, but it will look more blended. You won't be able to blend the shortest layers if they're really short, but it can minimize the 'look'. I wished I was there to help you!
The long layers video, which you can find in my hair tube, I created to help others. It is the best fail safe way to cut long layers by yourself. I actually received a heart felt email from a man who helped his wife cut her hair using this technique. Your husband might be able to help you cut your hair too!
The most excellent thing about hair, is that it grows out! Take Super Biotin
vitamin supplement to expediate growth. We all need it anyway!
I do wish you much luck in your hair endeavors. It's not an easy world, is it? XO Carolyn
