Hair Damage after Chemical Straightening
by Shilpa Bhowmick
(India)
I have straightened my hair twice within 2weeks gap as first time it was not successful. The last time it became worse. Now due to straightening, my hair is extremely damaged and it is fully curly, stiff, and rough like before, even though L'oreal Straightening Cream was used. What do I do?
Should I go for straightening again by a professional? I'm extremely frustrated!

No, not right away anyway. First you must
deep condition your hair and take care of the damage first. Your hair can only take but so much abuse, before it buckles and starts breaking off. It could also disintegrate. You may also want to use a
protein conditioner with moisture to help restructure your hair.
Hair porosity is a big factor in how well the straightening process works.
Going to a professional is always the best way to
straighten your hair. Its hard to
straighten your hair correctly by yourself! Its a very tedious process and must be done with sharp precision.
Just make sure your hairdresser knows her stuff and make sure you do some
damage control before you make an appointment.
