Hair Color Looks Different at Home
I have a really great colorist who usually does everything I want when I need to get my lights put in ....until she got into her head that I need to color all of my hair the same color all over right down to the roots! Apparently, this is "all the rage now" and everyone is doing just the roots and leaving the rest alone.
My hair color is a natural blonde color which ended up getting darker as the years went by. I have always gotten a weave which also looks way more natural on me, especially since have now reached the tender age of 60. I tried it her way one time about a year ago and no matter how long I waited to see if it would "grow on me" I had to go back and get her to take it out!! Today she talked me into trying it again, which when she got done looked really nice under the lights at the salon. Then I got home and took another look in my own bathroom--YIKES!! Too goddy gold! I just do not like the way this look looks on me!
So, now I have to go back and get it changed back again because even my husband sees that it is just much too much! I mean, yeah, I dye my hair, but I really don't want to be that obvious to the general public about it! So, I want to know if any of you out there in salon world have had the same experience, i.e., great color under the salon lights but a horrible nightmare under the regular watts at home!!
I am so mad at myself for letting her talk me into this again! I have somewhere I have to be tomorrow and I don't know if she will be there at the salon to fix it for me! I just can't believe that this has happened to me---again!! I have no one to blame except myself this time, but she should have seen the horror on my face when I first caught a glimpse of the color in the mirror and stopped right then, especially since we have been down this road before!!
When am I ever going to learn to trust my own instincts??? So, my advice to all of you would be to always pay attention your gut! Your first impression is usually not only correct, but usually is the one that sticks!! And if you don't like it that day, chances are you won't like it any better the next day, either! So, take it from me and do yourself a favor & get it taken care of before you even leave the salon. You'll be smiling instead of crying, which is what I am doing a lot of right about now!!

There is something about 'the chair' that women just can't seem to 'move out of' or manage to 'speak up'! Its a phenomena that's hard to understand, considering that talking is one of a woman's favorite pass times! You are so right! This is a lesson in trusting your gut more often! Hopefully, you've been able to get your hair fixed by now!
